Anne Farquhar
Anne Farquhar (born 1948), is a female former athlete who competed for England. Biography Farquhar finished second behind Sue Platt in the javelin event at the 1968 WAAA Championships. She represented England and won a silver medal in the javelin, at the 1970 British Commonwealth Games in Edinburgh, Scotland. 1978 WAAA Championships
The 1978 WAAA Championships sponsored by Sunsilk were the national track and field championships for women in the United Kingdom. The event was held at the Crystal Palace National Sports Centre, London, from 18 to 19 August 1978. The WAAA Championships was an annual track and field competition organised by the Women's Amateur Athletic Association (WAAA) in England. It was the foremost domestic athletics event for women during its lifetime. Since 1880, the Amateur Athletic Association of England had held the AAA Championships, but it admitted men only and did not wish to include women. Women's clubs and competitions were typically separate from the men's and in line with growing interest in the sport the WAAA was founded in 1922.
