Éva Szörényi
Éva Szörényi (born Elvira Schwáb; May 26, 1917 – December 1, 2009) was a Kossuth Prize-winning actress of the Hungarian National Theatre. Her acting career started in the early 1930s, when she played leading roles in over 20 motion pictures. As a result, she quickly became famous and beloved by the Hungarian people. Her voice also was heard frequently on the radio. When the Hungarian Revolution 1956 broke out, Szörényi actively participated in the events. After the November 4, 1956 Soviet invasion of Hungary she left her country with her family to escape communist persecution and settled with her husband, István Örményi, and three sons, István, Tamás and Gábor, in Los Angeles. In exile, Szörényi played an active role in the World Federation of Hungarian Freedom Fighters (WFHFF). She vowed not to visit Hungary until the last occupying Soviet soldier had left Hungary. László Szilassy (February 13, 1908 – March 30, 1972) was a Hungarian film actor.Juhász p.203 Beginning his career on the stage, he emerged as a popular leading man in cinema during the late 1930s and appeared in more than 40 films by the end of the Second World War. He then emigrated to Brazil, also spending many years in Argentina where he continued to act in the theatre but no longer appeared on screen. Nusi Somogyi
Nusi Somogyi (born Anna Irén Somogyi; March 3, 1890 – October 8, 1963) was a Hungarian film and stage actress. Biography Somogyi was the daughter of master brewer István Somogyi Hollósi and Anna Mesterházy. She studied at the Deák tér Reformed Civil School in Budapest, and then became a student at the acting school of the National Actors' Association. She appeared on stage in Kecskemét with Miklós Mariházy's troupe, then Sándor Rott invited her to the Folies Caprice and was also a member of the Jardin de Paris. In the summer of 1910, she joined the National Theatre of Szeged, where Jenő Krémer was the director. Then, at the invitation of László Beöthy, she signed a contract with the Király Theater, where she replaced Juci Lábass in the Sybill operetta after the 35th performance until the 100th performance, due to the actress' illness. Hunnia Studios
Hunnia Film Studio was the largest and most significant sound film studio in Hungary until its nationalization in 1948. Its predecessor, Corvin Film Studio, founded by Alexander Korda in 1917, was the most important Hungarian silent film company, while its successor, Mafilm, became the largest Hungarian film company, still operating today. Foundation Corvin Film Studio was purchased at an auction by the state-founded Filmipari Alap (Film Industry Fund). On December 19, 1928, Hunnia Film Factory was founded in Budapest. Prime Minister István Bethlen was determined to consolidate the Hungarian film industry and restore its old prestige. Therefore, the film factory was equipped with the most modern German technology.
