Anjalankoski
Anjalankoski is a former town and List of former municipalities of Finland, municipality of Finland. It had 16 379 inhabitants in 2008. About 4/5 of the people live in the vicinity of the Kymi River. The most densely populated communities are Myllykoski and Inkeroinen. In addition, there is plenty of countryside. The town's major industry is forestry along the Kymi Riverside. The paper factories Stora Enso, Stora Enso Oyj and Myllykoski Corporation, Myllykoski Paper Oy are the main employers together with the town itself. Anjalankoski offered plenty of cultural and sport activities, including a football (soccer), football team, MyPa. The Anjala Manor Museum and surroundings is an interesting cultural site. Sippola
Sippola is a List of former municipalities of Finland, former municipality of Finland in the former Kymi Province, now in Kymenlaakso. In 1975, it united with neighboring Anjala to form Anjalankoski, which was later merged into Kouvola in 2009. Geography The municipality bordered Anjala, Valkeala, Luumäki, Vehkalahti and Kymi, Finland, Kymi. It was located to the east of the Kymijoki. Villages History Sippola was initially known as ''Anikkala'', first mentioned in 1544 when it was a part of the Vehkalahti parish. The name Sippola is derived from a farm name ''Sippula'', in 1558 owned by ''Tuomas Sippu''. The earlier name ''Anikkala'' was displaced by ''Sippola'' in the late 16th century. The first chapel in Sippola was built by Lorentz Creutz, who owned a seat farm in the area. A new church was built in 1737. Kymenlaakso
Kymenlaakso (; ; "Kymi River, Kymi/Kymmene Valley") is a Regions of Finland, region in Finland. It borders the regions of Uusimaa, Päijät-Häme, Southern Savonia, South Savo and South Karelia and Russia (Leningrad Oblast). Its name means literally ''The Valley of River Kymijoki, Kymi''. Kymi River
The Kymi (, ) is a river in Finland. It begins at Lake Päijänne, flows through the provinces of Päijänne Tavastia, Uusimaa and Kymenlaakso, and discharges into the Gulf of Finland. The river passes the towns of Heinola and Kouvola. The town of Kotka is located on the river delta. The length of the river is , but its drainage basin of extends to almost inside the Tavastia, Central Finland, Savonia and Ostrobothnia. The furthest source of the river is Lake Pielavesi, its furthest point being some from the sea measured by flow route. The name of the river, itself, ''kymi'', means "large river", in Old Finnish. Valkeala is a former municipality of Finland. It is located in the province of Southern Finland, and is a neighborhood of city of Kouvola, and it was a part of the Kymenlaakso region. Elimäki (; Swedish: ''Elimä'') is a former municipality of Finland. It was located in the province of Southern Finland and was part of the region of Kymenlaakso. The municipality had a population of 8,199 and covered an area of 391.74 km² of which 4.27 km² was water. The population density was 21.2 inhabitants per km². The municipality was unilingually Finnish. Of note is the village of Koria, the largest village in Elimäki, possessing a population of 5,100. Koria is located 6,7 km west of Kouvola. Myllykoski Corporation was a family owned international paper group with central offices in Helsinki and Anjalankoski, manufacturing in Germany, Finland and North America, and sales offices around the world. The roots of the company date back to its founding by the Björnberg family in 1892. The company was acquired in 2011 by Finnish manufacturer UPM-Kymmene.
