Angèle Hug
Angèle Hug (born 30 July 2000) is a French slalom canoeist who has competed at the international level since 2017. She competes in the C1 and K1 events, having competed in C2 Mixed with Théo Roisin in 2017. She is from Les Ollières-sur-Eyrieux in the Ardèche department of France. She won a silver medal in the kayak cross event at the 2024 Summer Olympic in Paris. She also won three medals (two silvers and one bronze) at the European Championships. Career She finished 2nd in domestic selections for the C1 event at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, becoming Olympic substitute and securing a spot on the World Cup team. At her first World Cup in Pau, Hug placed 8th after qualifying third fastest into the final. At the 2021 European Championships in Ivrea, she won a bronze medal in the C1 team event, placing 16th individually. Hug finished 4th in the mixed C2 event at the 2017 World Championships in Pau. Les Ollières-sur-Eyrieux
Les Ollières-sur-Eyrieux (, literally ''Les Ollières on Eyrieux''; ) is a Communes of France, commune in the Ardèche Departments of France, department in southern France. The nearest towns are Privas and Saint-Sauveur-de-Montagut. History The first records of a settlement can be dated back to the 12th century. Situated on the banks of the river Eyrieux (a tributary to the Rhône), Les Ollières (as it is often shortened to by the local people) became a central location for the treatment and processing of silk in the early 18th century. 2022 European Junior And U23 Canoe Slalom Championships
The 2022 European Junior and U23 Canoe Slalom Championships took place in České Budějovice, Czech Republic from 11 to 14 August 2022 under the auspices of the European Canoe Association (ECA). It was the 24th edition of the competition for Juniors (U18) and the 20th edition for the Under 23 category. The Czech Republic hosted the event for the first time. A total of 20 medal events were held. Russia and Belarus were excluded from participation due to the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine. Augsburg Eiskanal
The ''Augsburg Eiskanal'' is an artificial whitewater river in Augsburg, Germany, constructed as the Canoeing at the 1972 Summer Olympics, canoe slalom venue for the 1972 Summer Olympics in nearby Munich. The first artificial whitewater course of its kind, it introduced the sport of canoe slalom (using decked canoes and kayaks) to the Olympic Games. However, because of the expense of building artificial rivers and supplying them with water, canoe slalom was missing from the next four Summer Olympics. It returned with the 1992 Summer Olympics, 1992 Olympic Games in Barcelona, and has been featured in every Summer Olympics since then. 2023 Canoe Slalom World Cup
The 2023 Canoe Slalom World Cup was the highest level season-long series of competitions across six canoe slalom disciplines organized by the International Canoe Federation (ICF). It was the 36th edition and featured five stops (or races) in five different venues. Canoeists competed for the title of the overall world cup champion in each of the six disciplines (3 for men and 3 for women), which was determined by the total number of points obtained from the five races. The 2021 European Junior and U23 Canoe Slalom Championships took place in Solkan, Slovenia from 19 to 22 August 2021 under the auspices of the European Canoe Association (ECA). It was the 23rd edition of the competition for Juniors (U18) and the 19th edition for the Under 23 category. Solkan hosted the championships for the 5th time. A total of 20 medal events were held. Tacen Whitewater Course
The Tacen Whitewater Course is a venue for canoe and kayak slalom competition in Tacen, Slovenia, a suburb of Ljubljana. Located on the Sava River, eight kilometers northwest of the city center, it is known locally as Kayak Canoe Club Tacen (). The course played an important role in development of the sport during the past six decades. In 1939, when its first competition was held, it was a natural rapid at the base of a dam in the Sava River. In 1990, after many upgrades, it was given a concrete channel and the features of a modern Olympic-style slalom course. The course now starts in the lake behind the dam, and the spillway is the first drop. 2017 ICF Canoe Slalom World Championships
The 2017 ICF Canoe Slalom World Championships was the 38th edition of the ICF Canoe Slalom World Championships. The event took place from 22 September to 1 October 2017 in Pau, France under the auspices of International Canoe Federation (ICF) at the Pau-Pyrénées Whitewater Stadium. Pau was also hosting the Wildwater Canoeing World Championships as part of the same event. The Mixed C2 event returned to the world's program for the first time since 1981. The men's C2 team event was not a world championship event due to only 4 countries participating. A non-olympic event must have participants from at least 6 countries to be counted as a world championship. Ivrea
