On 22 November 2021, Elish Angiolini, Lady Elish Angiolini KC was commissioned by then Home Secretary, Priti Patel, to conduct an independent inquiry as to how off-duty Metropolitan Police officer, Wayne Couzens, had the ability to kidnap, rape, and murder of Sarah Everard, murder Sarah Everard, a member of the public. One aim of the inquiry was to ensure Everard's family, as well as the public, received a full explanation as to the causes and factors contributing to her murder. Another aim was to 'bring about greater and earlier recognition of potential sexual and murderous predators, and thereby help improve the safety of women in public spaces'. Sexual Offences Act 1956
The Sexual Offences Act 1956 (4 & 5 Eliz. 2. c. 69) is an Act of Parliament, Act of the Parliament of the United Kingdom that consolidated the English criminal law relating to sexual offences between 1957 and 2004. It was mostly repealed (from 1 May 2004) by the Sexual Offences Act 2003 which replaced it, but sections 33 to 37 still survive. The 2003 Act also added a new section 33A. These sections create offences to deal with brothels. Although the rest of the Act has been repealed, the repealed sections still apply to sex crimes committed before the repeal, such as in the Pitcairn sexual assault trial of 2004. Taser (stylized in all caps) is a line of handheld conducted energy devices (CED) sold by Axon Enterprise (formerly Taser International). The device fires two small barbed darts intended to puncture the skin and remain attached to the target until removed by the user of the device. The Flint House Police Rehabilitation is a British charity, funded by donations from those in the police service and their families, providing physical rehabilitation and mental health support. History The Charity originated in 1890 as the Police Convalescent Home, originally at 11 Portland Road and later at on Kingsway, both in Hove. The latter was deemed too small by 20 April 1985, on which date the Police Convalescent Home Management Committee purchased Flint House and its surrounding 14-acre estate in Goring-on-Thames as a replacement. After renovation works, Flint House was opened as a Police Rehabilitation Centre by Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother on 2 June 1988. Counter Terrorism Command (CTC) or SO15 is a Specialist Operations branch within London's Metropolitan Police Service. The Counter Terrorism Command was established as a result of the merging of the Anti-Terrorist Branch (SO13) and Special Branch (SO12) in October 2006, bringing together intelligence, operations, and investigative functions to form a single command.
