Anghel Saligny
Anghel Saligny (; 19 April 1854, Liești, Șerbănești, Moldavia – 17 June 1925, Bucharest, Kingdom of Romania, Romania) was a Romanian engineer, most famous for designing the Anghel Saligny Bridge, Fetești-Cernavodă railway bridge (1895) over the Danube, the longest bridge in Europe at that time. He also designed the storage facilities in Port of Constanța, Constanța seaport, one of the earliest examples of reinforced concrete architecture in Europe. Biography Saligny was born in Liești, Șerbănești, Tecuci County (nowadays, Galați County). His father, Alfred Saligny, an educator of French descent, was an immigrant to Moldavia, coming from Prussia. He started his studies at the boarding school founded by his father in Focșani, then went on to high school, initially Unirea National College (Focșani), also in Focșani and then in Potsdam, Germany. Liești
Liești is the third-largest commune of Galați County, Western Moldavia, Romania on the confluence of the Siret River, Siret and Bârlad River, Bârlad rivers, very close to Tecuci (28 km) and Galați (52 km). It is composed of two villages, Liești and Șerbănești. The latter is the southernmost part of the commune. Name The name of the commune appears to be derived from ''Ilie'', which means ''Elijah'', probably a local, which seems to be the brother of Șerban, the father of Șerbănești. Adjud (; ) is a city in Vrancea County, Western Moldavia, Romania. It has a population of 15,178 inhabitants (as of 2021). It lies at a railway junction which has a classification yard and a passenger station. Adjud, situated north of the point where the river Trotuș enters the Siret, used to be a marketplace.
