Anette Kramme
Anette Kramme (born 10 October 1967) is a German lawyer and politician of the SPD who has served as a member of the Bundestag from the state of Bavaria since 1998. In addition to her parliamentary work, Kramme has been serving as Parliamentary State Secretary at the Federal Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs in the governments of Chancellors Angela Merkel and Olaf Scholz since 2013. Political career Kramme first became a member of the Bundestag in the 1998 German federal election. In this capacity, she has served on the Committee on Labour and Social Affairs (1998-2013) and the Committee on Legal Affairs (2002-2005). From 2009 until 2013, she was her parliamentary group's spokesperson on social policy. Ursula Gertrud von der Leyen (; Albrecht, born 8 October 1958) is a German politician who has been serving as the president of the European Commission since 2019. She served in the German federal government between 2005 and 2019, holding successive positions in Angela Merkel's cabinet, most recently as minister of defence. She joined the CSU in 1969, was a member of the town council of Würzburg from 1972, and a member of the Landtag of Bavaria from 1976. Karl-Josef Laumann (born 11 July 1957) is a German politician of the Christian Democratic Union (CDU). Since 2017, he has been the State Minister of Labor, Health and Social Affairs of North Rhine-Westphalia, an office he previously held between 2005 and 2010. 2017 German Federal Election
Federal elections were held in Germany on 24 September 2017 to elect the members of the 19th Bundestag. At stake were at least 598 seats in the Bundestag, as well as 111 overhang and leveling seats determined thereafter. The Christian Democratic Union of Germany and the Christian Social Union of Bavaria (CDU/CSU), led by incumbent chancellor Angela Merkel, won the highest percentage of the vote with 33%, though it suffered a large swing against it of more than 8%. The Social Democratic Party of Germany (SPD) achieved its worst result since post-war Germany at 21%. A coalition government is a form of government in which political parties cooperate to form a government.
