Andy Hawthorne (racquetball)
Andy Hawthorne is a professional racquetball player (born September 7, 1982). Hawthorne finished #6 on thInternational Racquetball Tour (IRT)at the end of the 2010-11 season, a career high and the fourth season he'd finished in the IRT's top 10 players. Primarily a drive serving player, Hawthorne also has a very "scrappy" game style. Professional career Hawthorne began playing the IRT full-time in the 2004-05 season, when he played 9 of the 12 events and reached the quarter-finals twice. Since then Hawthorne hasn't missed a tournament, reaching the quarter-finals 28 times but only once advancing to the semi-finals, which was at the Kansas City Pro-Am in September 2011, when he lost to Kane Waselenchuk in three games. Valley View is a village in Cuyahoga County, Ohio, United States. The population was 1,897 at the 2020 census. A suburb of Cleveland, it is a part of the Cleveland metropolitan area. Vincent Gagnon (born September 5, 1981) is a Canadian retired racquetball player from Montreal. Gagnon won five Canadian Championships: four doubles titles and one singles. He also competed for Canada 19 times, winning multiple medals highlighted by gold at the 2007 Pan American Championships in Men's Doubles with François Viens. Junior Years Gagnon began playing racquetball at 9, and was introduced to it by his father Michel Gagnon, who was his coach throughout his career – and is one oRacquetball Canada'sNational Team coaches. François Viens
François Viens (born March 7, 1975) is a retired Canadian racquetball player from Delson, Quebec. Viens was a doubles specialist during his career usually playing on the right side. He won four Canadian Championships in doubles, three with Vincent Gagnon, with whom he also won the 2007 Pan American Championships and one with Corey Osborne. International career Viens made five appearances on Team Canada. His first appearance was at the 2003 Pan American Games when he earned a bronze medal in doubles with Corey Osborne. Viens's greatest success internationally was winning the 2007 Pan American Championships in Santiago, Chile, where he and Vincent Gagnon defeated Americans Andy Hawthorne and Jason Samora in the final, 15-6, 11-15, 11-9. Shane Vanderson (born May 26, 1981) is a retired professional racquetball player. Ektelon
Ektelon, Inc. was an American manufacturer of equipment for racquetball. Originally based in Bordentown, New Jersey, Ektelon was founded by Franklin W. "Bud" Held in 1964 as the first company to manufacture racquetball racquets and stringing machines, not long after the development of the sport of racquetball by Joe Sobek. Working from Held’s garage in San Diego, California, the company initially set out to build aluminum tennis racquets and a racquet stringing machine. With the development of metal tennis racquets, the old techniques of stringing wooden racquets no longer worked, and Held saw the need for a new machine. Held is credited for one of the first patented designs for a racquet stringing machine.
