André Bo-Boliko Lokonga
André Bo-Boliko Lokonga Monse Mihambo (15 August 1934 – 30 March 2018) was a Congolese politician. He served as the First State Commissioner of Zaire from 6 March 1979 to 27 August 1980. From 1967 to 1980, he was secretary-general of the National Union of Congolese Workers, National Union of Zairian Workers (''Union Nationale des Travailleurs du Zaïre'', UNTZa). Early life André Bo-Boliko Lokonga was born on 15 August, 1934 in Lobamiti, Bandundu Province, Belgian Congo. Career He served as List of Presidents of the National Assembly of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, President of the Legislative Council of Congo (and later Zaire) from December 1970 until March 1979. In 1990 he joined Joseph Iléo in founding the Democratic Social Christian Party. Death He died in Brussels, Belgium on 30 March 2018, at the age of 83. The National Assembly is the lower house and main legislative political body of the Parliament of the Democratic Republic of the Congo. It is one of the two legislative bodies along with the Senate. The National Assembly is composed of deputies (fr. ''députés'') who are elected by the citizens of the DRC. The Democratic Social Christian Party () is a political party in Democratic Republic of the Congo. It is headed by former Mobutu Sese Seko, Mobutu-era prime minister André Bo-Boliko Lokonga, and was co-founded by Lokonga and Joseph Ileo in 1990. Joseph Iléo (15 September 1921 – 19 September 1994), subsequently Authenticité (Zaire), Zairianised as Sombo Amba Iléo, was a Congolese politician and was prime minister for two periods. Early life Joseph Iléo was born on 15 September 1921. In 1956, he was one of the authors of ''Manifeste de la Conscience Africaine'', which demanded the right of Africans to self-rule. In 1958, he was one of the founders of the ''Mouvement National Congolais'' (MNC). Whereas Patrice Lumumba represented the more Social revolution, revolutionary wing of the MNC, calling for both political and socio-economic independence, Iléo was closer to Congolese comprador elites who sought to eliminate discriminatory obstacles within an otherwise "Neocolonialism, neocolonial" status quo. The National Union of Workers of the Congo (, UNTC) is the largest trade union centre in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. It was formerly known as the National Union of Workers of Zaire (''Union Nationale des Travailleurs du Zaïre'', UNTZa)). Founded in 1967, the UNTZa was the sole trade union centre in Zaire. By 1990 the union expelled its general secretary, Komdo Ntonga Booke, a member of the party central committee, and broke away from its close ties with the government. This came after the steady decline of workers purchasing power in the late 1980s. In 1997, the union was renamed the UNTC, reflecting the renaming of Zaire to the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
