Andrejs Koroļevs
Andrejs Koroļevs (born 30 July 1969) is a former motorcycle speedway rider from Latvia. Since 1996, he raced on a Polish licence after gaining Polish citizenship and was known as Andrzej Korolew. He is a five times champion of Latvia. Career Koroļevs won his first national championship in 1991, the same year in which the restoration of independence of Latvia took place. he had previously competed in the Soviet Union Individual Speedway Championship. Koroļevs won the title four more times in 1995, 1997, 2000 and 2001. He is regarded as the Latvian rider who paved the way for a new group of riders emerging from the country. The 2008 FIM Nordicbet Speedway World Cup (SWC) is the 8th Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme, FIM Speedway World Cup season. The final took place on 19 July 2008 in sports, 2008 in Vojens, Denmark. The tournament was won by host team Denmark national speedway team, Denmark (49 pts) and they beat defending champion Poland national speedway team, Poland (46 pts), Sweden national speedway team, Sweden (39 pts) and Australia national speedway team, Australia (21 pts) in 2008 Speedway World Cup Final, the Final. It was the second time the Speedway World Cup was won by Denmark and their thirteenth Team World Champion title overall. Latvia National Speedway Team
The Latvia national speedway team is one of the nations that compete in international motorcycle speedway. History As the Soviet Union The Soviet Union speedway team (which was composed predominantly of Russian riders but also Ukrainian, Latvian and Belarus riders) first competed in the 1961 edition of the Speedway World Team Cup, where they finished second in the East European round. Throughout the history of World Team Cup, the team were regular World Cup contenders from 1961 until their final World Cup in 1983. They reached the final on 12 occasions, winning the silver medal five times, in 1964, 1966, 1971, 1972, 1975 and the bronze medals three times, in 1967, 1969 and 1973. 2008 European Speedway Club Champions' Cup
The 2008 European Speedway Club Champions' Cup was the 11th motorcycle speedway championship for clubs competing in Europe. It was organised by the European Motorcycle Union (UEM). The competition was primarily for Eastern European teams and only featured Polish teams from three of the 'Big four' leagues, with the British, Swedish and Danish leagues choosing not to compete. Mega-Lada Togliatti won the championship for a record fourth time.
