Andrej Stančík
Andrej Stančík (born 1 June 1995) is a Slovak politician, who has been an MP of the National Council since 2020. He is a member of the Ordinary People and Independent Personalities (OĽANO) movement caucus. Early life Stančík was born in Piešťany and studied International Relations at the Masaryk University, graduating in 2019. He pursued PhD at the same university, but suspended his studies when he was named state secretary. TV JOJ
TV JOJ is a Slovak private TV channel owned by J&T Enterprises and launched in March 2002. The channel screens serial dramas and TV shows. The name JOJ is derived from a Slovak interjection, comparable to ''oh là là''. History It was launched on 2 March 2002 as a successor of the network TV Global, which had been broadcasting since March 2000. The station's first slogan was "Nuda na Slovensku skončila," which translates to "Boredom in Slovakia has finished." TV JOJ was built by former head of the Czech channel TV Nova, Vladimír Železný, when he was at war with TV Nova's U.S. investor Central European Media Enterprises (CME). Through Joj, Železný wanted to shake the dominance of CME's station in Slovakia, TV Markíza, which was enjoying almost 50 percent of the country's nationwide audience. Dušan Velič
Dušan Velič (15 October 1966 – 31 July 2023) was a Slovak physical chemist and politician. He served as a State Secretary at the Ministry of Investment, Regional Development, and Informatization from April 2021 to May 2023. Early life and education Dušan Velič was born on 15 October 1966 in Žilina. He studied at the Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava, graduating in 1990. Following his graduation, he went on to get his PhD at the Wayne State University, which he obtained in 1996. Academic career After his PhD, Velič spent two years as a postdoctoral researcher at the Fritz Haber Institute of the Max Planck Society. In 1998, he joined the Comenius University, where he taught until his death. He became a full professor at the Comenius University in 2021. In the early 2000s, he co-founded the International Laser Centre in Bratislava, where he remained active until his death. The National Council of the Slovak Republic (, abbreviated to ''NR SR'') is the national parliament of Slovakia. 2020 Slovak Parliamentary Election
Parliamentary elections were held in Slovakia on 29 February 2020 to elect all 150 members of the National Council. The populist Ordinary People and Independent Personalities–NOVA–Christian Union–Change from Below (OĽaNO–NOVA–KÚ–ZZ) party emerged as the largest parliamentary group, winning 53 seats. The ruling coalition comprising Direction – Social Democracy (Smer), the Slovak National Party (SNS), and Most–Híd, led by Prime Minister Peter Pellegrini of Smer, won only 38, with both the SNS and Most–Híd losing their parliamentary representation.
