Andain
Andain was a San Francisco-based electronic music duo, originally formed in 2000. They broke through in 2002 after being discovered by DJ Tiësto, reaching clubbers worldwide with their singles "Summer Calling" in 2002 and "Beautiful Things" in 2003. The band members initially included producer Josh Gabriel, singer and songwriter Mavie Marcos, and guitarist David Penner, before the group disbanded in 2006. Andain returned again in 2011 as Josh and Mavie, making their comeback with the single "Promises". The successive year saw the release of the band's first and only full-length album, on September 12, 2012, following a year of touring and performing. Andain was eventually concluded in 2014. ''You Once Told Me'' is the first officially released studio album from Andain, succeeding ten years of various works and performances. Overview Released on September 24, 2012 through Black Hole, ''You Once Told Me'' had been written over a span of four years, from 2007 to 2011. The album was promoted with three singles prior to its release, starting with "Promises" in June 2011, " Much Too Much" by the end of January 2012, and " Turn Up the Sound" on June 18, 2012. After much patience following unsettled circumstances, the album was officially announced on August 10, 2012, on Andain's official Facebook page. Promises (Andain Song)
"Promises" is the third single from Andain, and remarks a comeback after eight years since their previous release. It's also the first promotional single taken from the duo's debut album, ''You Once Told Me''. Overview The song made its debut on YouTube with the première of its official music video, posted by Black Hole on June 1, 2011. The single followed on June 6, 2011, as two exclusive digital releases: a five track remix EP on Beatport, and a three track single on iTunes, featuring the album version of the song. A follow-up remix EP with additional remixes was released on June 13, 2011. Prior to its release, "Promises" received promotional support from a selected crew of DJs, being featured in live sets, podcasts and radio shows in the form of various remixes. "Much Too Much" is the fourth release from electronica duo Andain, and the second promotional single taken from the subsequent studio album, ''You Once Told Me''. Overview The single was initially released as a digital download on January 30, 2012, featuring the album version of the song, a chillout remix by Zetandel, and a radio edit. A second issue with additional remixes was later released on February 27, 2012, which featured two drum and bass remixes by Relay & Front and Rido, and a drumstep remix by Shreddward & Exceed. Also, defining a third issue of the single, a trance remix by Mike Shiver was released on April 23, 2012. Beautiful Things (Andain Song)
"Beautiful Things" is the second release by Andain. It first appeared on Tiësto's compilation album '' Nyana'', released May 6, 2003, and was later published as a single via Black Hole, on October 27, 2003. Overview While "Beautiful Things" was promoted and released as a remix by Gabriel & Dresden, the song originally started out as an unreleased guitar track titled "Annie". In response to a request from Tiësto for a follow-up to the single "Summer Calling", "Annie" was rewritten to become a club track, also changing the lyrics from a narrative third person view to first person. According to Mavie, "Beautiful Things" is, "in a general sense, about feeling stuck; in a place, time, you just can’t get yourself out of". "Turn Up the Sound" is the fifth release from Andain, marking the third and last promotional single prior to the duo's debut album, '' You Once Told Me''. Overview The single was released as two packages, each running as a Beatport exclusive for two weeks. The first part was released on June 18, 2012 as a remix EP, and featured three club mixes: two in the style of trance by tyDi and Xtigma, and one electro house remix by Francis Prève. The second part followed on July 2, 2012, and featured seven tracks, including an electro house remix by Tristan Garner; a drumstep remix by Stratus; a chillout remix by Zetandel; a trance remix by Gabriel & Dresden; and the album version of the song, in addition to one radio edit for each of the latter two mixes. Gabriel & Dresden is an American electronic music duo comprising Josh Gabriel and Dave Dresden, formed in San Francisco, California. They collaborated from 2001 to 2008, then again from 2011 to the present. During that time, they have created numerous hit songs and remixes, some of which are considered classics. They won the coveted Winter Music Conference IDMA award for "Best American DJ" twice, in 2007 and 2008, the latter time on the same day that the group split up. ''Nyana'' is a double disc album by trance producer and DJ Tiësto, released on May 6, 2003. Disc one is labeled ''Outdoor'', while the second CD is labeled ''Indoor''.
