Anatol Țăranu
Anatol Țăranu (born 19 October 1951) is a Moldovan former politician and diplomat. Biography Țăranu holds a Ph.D. in history, 1986, and served as member of the Parliament of Moldova (1990–1993, 2005–2009). Țăranu has also been a chief expert for the Chişinău side during negotiations with separatist leaders in Transnistria. Between 1993 and 1995, Țăranu was Moldovan Ambassador to Moscow, and between 1997 and 1998 he was an advisor with special missions to the President of the Republic of Moldova. At the third congress of the Social Democratic Party, 25–26 February 1995, Anatol Țăranu was elected as a new head of the party. After 2005 parliamentary election, Anatol Țăranu was excluded from Party Alliance Our Moldova. The parliament of the Republic of Moldova () is the supreme representative body of the Republic of Moldova, the only state legislative authority, being a unicameral structure composed of 101 elected MPs on lists, for a period or legislature of four years. The parliament of Moldova is elected by universal vote, equal directly, secret and freely expressed. The president of the parliament of the Republic of Moldova is elected by the Parliament, with a minimum of 52 votes. The Constitutional Court of the Republic of Moldova, on a proposal of the Central Electoral Commission, decides to validate or invalidate the mandate of the Member of Parliament. The mandate is invalid in the case of violation of electoral legislation. The Parliament is meeting at the convening of the Speaker of the Parliament within 30 days of the elections. The Order of the Republic () is Moldova's highest Order (decoration), order. It is awarded by the President of Moldova for exceptional merits in all fields which benefit Moldova and humanity as a whole. Ion Tighineanu has been the head of the Academy of Sciences since April 9, 2019. It was founded in 1946, and initially had five faculties, Physics and Mathematics, Geology and Pedology, History and Philology, Biology, and Chemistry.
