Ana Starck-Stănișel
Ana Starck-Stănișel (née Starck; 28 January 1935 – 26 March 2024), also known as Ana Stark-Stănișel or as Anna Stark-Stănișel, was a Romanian handballer who played for the Romanian national team. Starck-Stănișel died in Bucharest on 26 March 2024, at the age of 89. At the 1962 World Women's Handball Championship she won gold medals with the Romanian team, beating Denmark in the final. She was joint topscorer together with Marie Matuje with 14 goals. The Liga Națională is a league of professional women's handball league teams in Romania. Run by the Romanian Handball Federation, the competition is also known as the Liga Florilor MOL and is contested by sixteen teams. The National Handball League is Romania's top-level domestic women's handball-league club competition. The team with the most Liga Națională championships is SCM Râmnicu Vâlcea with twenty. Handball (also known as team handball, European handball, Olympic handball or indoor handball) is a team sport in which two teams of seven players each (six outcourt players and a goalkeeper) pass a ball using their hands with the aim of throwing it into the goal of the opposing team. The 1963–64 Women's Handball European Champions Cup was the fourth edition of the premier international competition for European women's handball clubs, taking place from November 1963 to April 1964. Thirteen teams took part in the competition, with 1963 finalists Soviet Union and Denmark and debutante Norway being granted byes to the quarterfinals. The final was carried out as a single match taking place in Bratislava on April 4. The EHF Women's Champions League is the competition for the top women's handball clubs in Europe, organised annually by the European Handball Federation (EHF). It is the most prestigious tournament for clubs, with the champions of Europe's top national leagues participating.
