Ana Maria Țicu (née Apipie; born 23 February 1992) is a Romanian handballer for SCM Craiova (women's handball), SCM Craiova and the Romania women's national handball team, Romanian national team. She represented Romania at the 2020 European Women's Handball Championship. She was given the award of ''Cetățean de onoare'' ("Honorary citizen#Honorary citizenship, Honorary Citizen") of the city of Craiova in 2018. Romania Women's National Handball Team
The Romanian women's national team represents Romania in senior women's international handball and is controlled by the Romanian Handball Federation, the governing body for handball in Romania. It competes in the three major international tournaments; the Olympic Games, the IHF World Championship and the EHF European Championship. Since first entering World Championship, Romania are the only team to have appeared in all 25 tournaments to date. They were crowned winners in the IHF World Championship three times: 1956, 1960 and 1962, and finished as runners-up in 1973 and 2005 and also finished third in 2015. Handball
Handball (also known as team handball, European handball, Olympic handball or indoor handball) is a team sport in which two teams of seven players each (six outcourt players and a goalkeeper) pass a ball using their hands with the aim of throwing it into the goal of the opposing team. A standard match consists of two periods of 30 minutes, and the team that scores more goals wins. Modern handball is played on a court of , with a goal in the middle of each end. 2020 European Women's Handball Championship
The 2020 European Women's Handball Championship was held from 3 to 20 December 2020. The games were played in Herning and Kolding, Denmark. Originally, this tournament would be held with 2 host countries: Norway and Denmark. However, lacking some time for the beginning, Norway renounced the right to seat, respecting the local legislation about the COVID-19 pandemic.
