''Amor y Alegria'' (English: ''Love and Joy'') is the second studio album recorded by Nicaraguan salsa singer-songwriter Luis Enrique. The album was released by CBS Discos in 1988 (see 1988 in music). The album earned him international recognition as the album was produced during the salsa romantica era of the 1980s. Some of the songs are cuts from the previous album, ''Amor de Medianoche'' (1987). Singles The album produced six singles that charted on the Hot Latin Tracks. *''Comprendelo'' (Understand) was the first single released from the album in 1988. The song reached No. 8 on the Hot Latin Tracks, the highest peaking single from the album. *''Desesperado'' (Hopeless) was the second single released from the album. Luis Enrique Mejía López (born September 28, 1962) is a Nicaraguan-American singer-songwriter and musician. He is known as "El Príncipe de la Salsa" (''The Prince of Salsa''). A grammy-award-winning artist, he has released over 20 albums and achieved widespread success, including his single " Yo No Sé Mañana" which was awarded a Latin Grammy Award for "Best Tropical Song". With nearly 30 years in the music industry, he has accomplished several gold and platinum albums. In June 1985, ''Billboard'' magazine established Tropical Albums (initially called Tropical/Salsa Latin Albums), a chart that ranks the best-selling tropical albums in the United States. The Lo Nuestro Award for Tropical Album of the Year is an honor presented annually by American television network Univision at the Lo Nuestro Awards. The accolade was established to recognize the most talented performers of Latin music. Emmanuel (born Jesús Emmanuel Arturo Acha Martinez, April 16, 1955, in Mexico City) is a Mexican singer who debuted in the 1970s.
