American Canyon High School is a public comprehensive high school located in American Canyon, California. It is operated by the Napa Valley Unified School District. History The city of American Canyon, located at the southern end of Napa County, is the fastest growing part of that county. For decades, high school students living in American Canyon were bussed to Vintage High School in the city of Napa, located to the north. Strong public support developed for locating a high school in American Canyon. In 2003 the school district purchased a site for a new high school for $4.5 million. Voters residing in the Napa Valley Unified School District approved Measure G in November 2006. This $183 million bond measure provided the funding that made construction of American Canyon High School possible, as well as other school improvement projects in the district. The ''Napa Valley Register'' is a daily newspaper located in Napa, California. The paper began publication on August 10, 1863. By 1864, the newspaper had dropped “Valley” from its name, becoming simply the ''Napa Register'', until returning to the original name over a century later. Covering a community more known for its wheat crop than wine grapes, the early ''Register'' would be unrecognizable to modern readers. A forum for gossip, tall-tales, opinion, moral instruction, aphorisms, propaganda, entertainment and, sporadically, hard news, the ''Register'' was one of the top two newspapers of early Napa. The California red-legged frog (''Rana draytonii'') is a species of frog found in California (USA) and northern Baja California (Mexico). It was formerly considered a subspecies of the northern red-legged frog (''Rana aurora''). The frog is an IUCN vulnerable species, and a federally listed threatened species of the United States, and is protected by law. Distribution The California red-legged frog is found in California and extreme northern Baja California, northwestern Mexico. This species now occurs most commonly along the northern and southern Coast Ranges, and in isolated areas in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada mountains. The current southernmost California populations are on the Santa Rosa Plateau in Riverside County, and within the Upper Las Virgenes Canyon Open Space Preserve in the Simi Hills in eastern Ventura County, near the community of West Hills.
