Ambelokipi, Athens
Ampelokipoi or Ampelokipi (, ), meaning 'vineyards', is a large, central district of the city of Athens. Ampelokipoi is in the center of Athens, near Zografou, Goudi, Psychiko and Pagkrati. The area is famous for hosting Panathinaikos F.C., Panathinaikos's home ground since it was inaugurated in 1922. Two Rapid transit, metro stations are located in the district: the Ambelokipi station and the Panormou station. History Before the Greek independence, at the beginning of the 19th century, Ampelokipoi was a village a few kilometers north-east of Athens. The village Ampelokipoi is noted in the maps of this period. In the late 19th century, the village still remained outside the boundaries of Athens agglomeration. Athens Towers
Athens Towers (Modern Greek language, Greek: Πύργος Αθηνών), is a complex of two buildings situated in Athens, Greece. ''Athens Tower 1'' is and 28 storeys high, making it the tallest building in Greece, while ''Athens Tower 2'' has 15 storeys and a height of being the 8th tallest in Greece. Construction began in 1968 and was completed in 1971 during the Greek junta, dictatorship. At the time of its completion it was the second tallest building in Southeast Europe. It is located in the district of Ambelokipi, Athens, Ampelokipi on 2 Mesogeion Avenue. It is used by many companies such as Interamerican and Alpha Bank. Elpis Hospital
The General Hospital of Athens "Elpis" is a hospital in the center of Athens, Greece. It is the oldest active hospital in the country. The foundation stone of the Municipal Hospital of Athens "Elpis" was laid in June 1836 at 50 Akadimias Street, where today the Spiritual Center of the Municipality of Athens is housed. The plans were by the German architect F. Stauffert, with some modifications by his compatriot Eduard Schaubert (1804–1860). The construction was undertaken by the Danish architect Christian Hansen, making some additional modifications. Water polo is a competitive sport, competitive team sport played in water between two teams of seven players each. The Prosfygika of Alexandras avenue (), or simply Prosfygika, are a neighborhood and set of housing blocks located in Athens, in the area of Ampelokipoi along Alexandras Avenue.
