Alpine (band)
Alpine were an Australian indie pop band from Melbourne, Victoria, formed in 2009. History Alpine released their debut EP, ''Zurich'', in November 2010. Preceded by the "Hands" single in late 2011, their debut album, ''A Is for Alpine'', was released in Australia in 2012 and in the US in 2013. The album was featured on Triple J prior to its release, and debuted at No. 11 on the ARIA chart. The album's second single, "Gasoline", was released in July 2012. It reached No. 31 in the 2012 Triple J Hottest 100, and was described by ''Pitchfork'' as an "unforgettably light and charismatic gem". Alpine were nominated for ARIA Award for Breakthrough Artist - Release and Best Video (for "Hands") at the 2012 ARIA Music Awards. St Jerome's Laneway Festival
The St. Jerome's Laneway Festival, commonly referred to as Laneway, began in Caledonian Lane, Melbourne, Australia, in 2005. Beginning as predominantly an indie music event, the festival grew in popularity and expanded to five Australian cities—Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, Adelaide and Fremantle—as well as Auckland, New Zealand and Singapore. History 2005 St. Jerome's Laneway Festival had its roots in the "St. Jerome's Summer Series" each Sunday afternoon, created by Jerome Borazio and Danny Rogers and featuring new bands of the time, including The Presets and Architecture in Helsinki. The Australian Independent Record Awards (commonly known informally as AIR Awards) is an annual awards night to recognise, promote and celebrate the success of Australia's Independent Music sector. The 2015 Triple J Hottest 100 was announced Australia Day, 26 January 2016. It is the 23rd countdown of the most popular songs of the year, as chosen by the listeners of Australian radio station Triple J. Voting commenced on 9 December 2015, and closed on 22 January 2016. Voters nominated ten songs that were released between December 2014 and November 2015 and submitted them through the Triple J website. Over 2 million votes were again cast, this year from 172 countries. 54 songs in the 2015 Hottest 100 are by Australian artists, with 26 artists of any nationality making their debut. Despite a betting agency's campaign aimed at getting Justin Bieber featured in the list, similar to 2014's #Tay4Hottest100, Triple J announced no songs have been disqualified from the 2015 list. ''All Songs Considered'' is a weekly online multimedia program started in January 2000 by NPR's ''All Things Considered'' director Bob Boilen. At first, the show featured information and streaming audio about the songs used as bumper music on ''All Things Considered''. The program has turned into a source of discovery for new music of all genres. In August 2005, the program began podcasting for free. In 2005, it began webcasting and podcasting live concerts from Washington, D.C.'s 9:30 Club, including acts such as Animal Collective, The Decemberists, Neko Case, and Tom Waits. KCRW (89.9 MHz FM) is a National Public Radio member station broadcasting from the campus of Santa Monica College in Santa Monica, California, where the station is licensed. KCRW airs original news and music programming in addition to programming from NPR and other affiliates.
