Alonzo King
Alonzo King, born in Georgia to civil-rights activists Slater King and Valencia King Nelson, is an American dancer and choreographer based in San Francisco. King grew up in Georgia and California, and, as an adult, decided his contribution would be teaching and choreography. In 1982, having established himself as a well-respected teacher, he founded Alonzo King LINES Ballet. Believing that everyone has the potential to grow through dance, seven years later he opened what was then known as the San Francisco Dance Center, offering classes for both professionals and the community. Alonzo holds Honorary Doctorate Degrees from The Juilliard School, California Institute of the Arts, and Dominican University of California. Anne-Marie Alonzo
Anne-Marie Alonzo, (December 13, 1951 – June 11, 2005) was a Canadian playwright, poet, novelist, critic and publisher. Born in Alexandria, Egypt, to a father of Palestinian descent and a mother of Syrian and Maltese descent, she immigrated to Quebec in 1963, when she was twelve. In 1966, at the age of 15, she was the victim of a car accident which left her quadriplegic and using a wheelchair. She received a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1976, a Master of Arts degree in 1978, and a Ph.D. in French studies in 1986 from the Université de Montréal. The author of 20 books, her poetry collection, ''Bleus de mine'', received the Prix Émile-Nelligan in 1985 and was nominated for the 1985 Governor General's Awards. She co-founded ''Trois'' magazine. In 1989, she launched the Festival littéraire de Trois. In 1996, she was made a Member of the Order of Canada. Alonzo Williams is an American DJ and former member and promoter of the World Class Wreckin' Cru. He is credited for playing a major role in the development of West Coast Hip Hop, tracing back to the late 1970s. He is also the former owner of Kru-Cut Records. World Class Wreckin' Cru By 1979, Alonzo was already one of the most popular DJs in the Los Angeles area. He began producing dances under the name of Disco Construction, named after funk group Brass Construction. Seeing the popularity of this new craze, he entered the market of running nightclub performances. The World Class Wreckin' Cru debuted in a club owned by Lonzo. Allonzo Brian Trier (born January 17, 1996) is an American professional basketball player who last played for the Iowa Wolves of the NBA G League.
