Eunice Gibbs Allyn (, Gibbs; pen names, (multiple); 1847 – June 30, 1916) was an American correspondent, author, songwriter, illustrator, and painter. She intended to become a teacher, but her mother dissuaded her so she remained at home, entering into society, and writing in a quiet way for the local papers while using various pen names in order to avoid displeasing one of her brothers, who did not wish to have a "bluestocking" in the family. Allyn served as the Washington correspondent for the '' Chicago Inter Ocean'', as well as a writer for the '' St. Louis Globe-Democrat'' and the ''New York World''. Jerri Allyn is an American feminist performance, installation artist and educator based in Los Angeles, California. Biography Allyn earned an M.A. in Art and Community from Goddard College in 1978 and also attended The Feminist Studio Workshop at the Los Angeles Woman's Building from 1978 to 1978. Allyn was active in the feminist art movement, co-founding multiple feminist performance groups in the 1970s and 1980s. The first of these was "The Waitresses," co-founded with Anne Gauldin in 1977. All of the members of the group were waitresses, and through their often comedic performances, they explored the cultural perception of women as nurturers as well as what labor conditions were like for women in the service industry. Personal life Allyn is the stepson of the late John Wallach, founder of the nonprofit organization Seeds of Peace. Allyn graduated from the Georgetown Day School in Washington, D.C. Allyn Capron (August 27, 1846 – September 18, 1898), was a captain in the United States Army. He commanded an artillery battery during the Wounded Knee Massacre. Life before the Spanish–American War Capron was born on August 27, 1846, at Fort Brooke, Florida to Harriet Read Fanning Barnard and Erastus Allyn Capron, an 1833 graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point. 1847 brought the death of Erastus in the Mexican–American War. Upon reaching age, Allyn was nominated by a U.S. Congressman from North Carolina to enroll, like his father before him, into the U.S. Military Academy. Allyn Abbott Young (September 19, 1876 – March 7, 1929) was an American economist. Over his career, he served as president of the American Statistical Association in 1917 and the American Economic Association in 1925, making him one of the few individuals to lead both organizations. In 1929, Young was president of Section F (Economics) of the British Association for the Advancement of Science. He died in London at the age of 52 from pneumonia during an influenza epidemic.
