Allières
Allières (; ) is a Communes of France, commune in the Ariège (department), Ariège Departments of France, department in the Occitania (administrative region), Occitanie region of southwestern France. Geography Allières is located in the ''Plantaurel mountains'' in the ''Natural Regional Park of Pyrénées ariégeoises'' some 22 km west by north-west of Foix and some 70 km south of Toulouse. Access to the commune is by the minor D49 road which runs north from the D117 road through the commune and the village and continuing north across the mountains to join the D119 near Maury. There is also access by a minor road from the east. Apart from the village there is also the hamlet of Escougnale. The commune is heavily forested with a few farms. Numerous streams rise in the commune mostly flowing north to the ''Ruisseau de Mourisse'' which forms the northern border of the commune and flows west to join the Arize river near Maury. La Bastide-de-Sérou (; ) is a Communes of France, commune in the Ariège (department), Ariège Departments of France, department in the Occitania (administrative region), Occitanie region of south-western France. The inhabitants of the commune are known as ''Bastidiens'' or ''Bastidiennes''. Geography La Bastide-de-Sérou is a commune in the Pre-Pyrenees some 15 km south-west of Pamiers and 15 km west by north-west of Foix. It has the odd characteristic of another small commune, Suzan, France, Suzan, fully enclosed in the commune. Access to the commune is by the D117 road from Montels, Ariège, Montels in the east which passes through the south of the commune and the village continuing west to Castelnau-Durban. Foix
Foix ( , ; ; ) is a commune, the former capital of the County of Foix. It is the capital of the department of Ariège as it is the seat of the prefecture of that department. Foix is located in the Occitanie region of southwestern France. It is the second least populous French departmental capital, the least populous being Privas. Foix lies south of Toulouse, close to the borders with Spain and Andorra. It is only the second biggest town in Ariège, the biggest being Pamiers, which is one of the two sub-prefectures, the other being St Girons.
