Allen Jones (record Producer)
Allen Alvoid Jones Jr. (December 29, 1940 – May 5, 1987) was an American record producer and songwriter. Jones produced several albums for Albert King (including '' I'll Play the Blues for You'', '' The Blues Don't Change'' and '' I Wanna Get Funky''), and became the producer and manager for the Bar-Kays. He produced all of their records including their last records for Mercury Records. He formed their production company, and produced other acts such as Kwick on EMI and executively produced Ebony Webb, also on EMI. Jones was also a successful songwriter, with his songs recorded by musicians including Elvis Costello, Sam & Dave, Clarence Carter, and Albert King. Songs he co-composed include " I Can't Stand Up for Falling Down", " Drownin' on Dry Land", " Heart Fixing Business", " If the Washing Don't Get You, The Rinsing Will", and " Hard to Handle". Chocolate Milk (band)
Chocolate Milk was an American funk and soul band from New Orleans, Louisiana, active in the 1970s and early 1980s. Biography Chocolate Milk was formed in 1974 in New Orleans, Louisiana, after the emergence of the bands Kool & the Gang and Earth, Wind & Fire. The eight-piece band included Frank Richard (vocals), Amadee Castenell (saxophone), Joe Foxx (trumpet), Mario Tio (guitars), Earnest Dabon (bass), Robert Dabon (keyboards/piano) and Dwight Richards (drums/percussion). The band also worked as the studio group for songwriter and producer Allen Toussaint, following the tenure of the Meters as Toussaint's band. Chocolate Milk backed Toussaint as a live band and on his album ''New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival'' (1976), and also recorded with Paul McCartney. The band then signed with RCA Records. Ardent Studios is an American recording studio located in Memphis, Tennessee, United States. The studio was founded in the late 1950s by John King, Fred Smith, and John Fry. Over time, it has become a commercially successful recording studio. History Ardent Studios was founded by John Fry, John King, and Fred Smith, in 1959. Initially, it was a studio in John Fry's family garage, where he recorded his first 45s for the Ardent Records label. Equipment in the studio included an Altec tube mixing console, Ampex 2-track tape recorder, a Pultec equalizer, and Neumann microphones. In 1966, the studio moved to a commercial location shared with a bookshop. Tom Dowd was consulting with Auditronics on an early multitrack console for nearby Stax Records, and Fry ordered the same input modules for his second mixing board.
