Alick Jeffrey
Alick Jeffrey (29 January 1939 – 22 November 2000) was an English professional footballer who played as a striker. Jeffrey made nearly 300 appearances in the Football League, scoring over 100 goals. Career Born in Rawmarsh, Jeffrey made his senior debut for Doncaster Rovers in 1954, at the age of just 15. Jeffrey was considered one of the most promising players in the country, and played for England U23 when still a teenager. He had an agreement with Manchester United that he would move there at the end of the 1956–57 season, but Jeffrey sustained a badly broken leg playing for England U23 v France in October 1956, in his second international. His recovery was slow, and it became apparent that he might be unable to continue his career. He officially retired due to that injury in January 1959. Rawmarsh
Rawmarsh (locally ) is a village in the Metropolitan Borough of Rotherham, in South Yorkshire, England. Historically within the West Riding of Yorkshire, it is north-northeast from Rotherham town centre and south-southwest of Swinton. The village also forms part of the Sheffield Urban Area. The Rawmarsh ward of Rotherham MBC had a population of 13,389 at the 2011 Census. Rawmarsh also contains other output areas from neighbouring wards giving it a population of 18,498 in 2011 and 18,535 in 2014. History Etymology The name has gone through many changes since being recorded as "Rodemesc" in the ''Domesday Book'' and "Raumersche" in 1355. The name is of dual origin, "Rode" is from the Old Norse for "red", while the second element is from Old English ''mersc'' "Marsh". Tom Keetley
Thomas Keetley (16 November 1898 – 18 August 1958) was an English professional footballer who played as a centre forward. He scored 284 Football League goals between 1919 and 1934. Life and career Keetley was one of eleven brothers and one sister he was born in Derby and came from a footballing family with several other brothers who played professionally including Arthur, Harry, Joe, Frank and Charlie. The first Football League side he played for was Bradford Park Avenue, and he first played in the league for them in 1919–20, going on to make 22 league appearances for them over a four-season period. In 1923–24 he first played league football for Doncaster Rovers, a club which three of his brothers (Harry, Joe and Frank) played for in their careers. He remains the all-time top scorer for Doncaster with 180 league goals.
