Ali İhsan Su
Ali İhsan Su (born 25 June 1959) is a Turkish bureaucrat who has served as the governor of Diyarbakır since May 2022, having been appointed by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan on the recommendation of the Turkish Government. He previously served as the 8th governor of Düzce from 2013 to 2015, having been appointed by former president Abdullah Gül. He is a former ''Kaymakam'' (sub-governor of a district). Early life Born in 1959 in Konya, Su was educated at Istanbul University Faculty of Political Science and graduated in 1985. He began working at the Central Administration as a Kaymakam candidate. In Turkey, a governor ( Turkish: ''Vali'') is an official responsible for the implementation of legislation, constitutional and government decisions in individual provinces. There are 81 governors in Turkey, one for each province, appointed ceremonially by the president on the recommendation of the Interior Ministry. Governors are legally required to be politically neutral and have power over public offices within their province, including the provincial police force. Hatay Province

İskenderun (), historically known as Alexandretta (, ) and Scanderoon, is a municipality and Districts of Turkey, district of Hatay Province, Turkey. Its area is 247 km2, and its population is 251,682 (2022). It is on the Mediterranean coast. Located on an alluvial plain, the city was heavily damaged by 2023 Turkey–Syria earthquake, powerful earthquakes in February 2023 and subsequent aftershocks, floods and fires.
