Ali Canip Yöntem
Ali Canip Yöntem (born 1887 Istanbul – October 26, 1967, Istanbul), was a Turkish poet, writer, literary history researcher, and politician. Biography He was born in 1887 in Istanbul. His father is Halil Saip, a member of the Ministry of Evkaf, and his mother is Hafize Nuriye, the daughter of Anapa mufti İslam. Most of his grandfathers were from Kanlıca and had worked in foundations. He studied in Istanbul, first at Üsküdar Gülfem School, then at Toptaşı Military High School and two years at the French school in Selamsız. After his father was exiled to Thessaloniki, he continued his education at the Thessaloniki Mulkiye High School. The Turkish and literature lessons he took from Cudi Efendi at this school made him interested in literature. The poet he read most during high school was Muallim Naci. In 1906, when he was in the last year of his high school, he enrolled in Istanbul Law School with an examination, but later had his enrollment in Thessaloniki Law School. ... Dastan
Dastan () is an ornate form of oral history, an epic, from Central Asia, Iran, Turkey and Azerbaijan. A dastan is generally centered on one individual who protects his tribe or his people from an outside invader or enemy, although only occasionally can this figure be traced back to a historical person. This main character sets an example of how one should act, and the dastan becomes a teaching tool — for example the Sufi master and Turkic poet Ahmed Yesevi said "Let the scholars hear my wisdom, treating my words like a dastan". Alongside the wisdom, each dastan is rich with cultural history of interest to scholars. During the Russian conquest of Central Asia, many new dastans were created to protest the Russian occupation. ''Hayat'' () was an Ottoman Turkish language weekly magazine published in Ankara and Istanbul between 1926 and 1929 in a total of 146 issues. For the first 75 issues Mehmet Emin Erişirgil was the editor-in-chief, then Nâfî Atuf Kansu and Faruk Nafiz Çamlıbel, Faruk Nafız Çamlıbel assumed the office. The magazine described itself as "literary opinion magazine". The content of the magazine was particularly addressed to writers and philosophers and intended to encourage intellectuals to write innovatively. It also included a special edition for women.
