Algerian Clasico
The CR Belouizdad–MC Oran rivalry, are the matches between CR Belouizdad (CRB) and MC Oran (MCO) and gives rise to an important confrontation. The first represents Algiers, the capital of the country, the second Oran, the second largest city in the country. They are both among the most successful clubs in the country. They are also the two clubs having played the greatest number of seasons in the Algerian Ligue Professionnelle 1, since they have both always been part of this elite, except for one season. Abdelhafid Tasfaout ( ar, عبد الحفيظ تاسفاوت; born 11 February 1969) is an Algerian former professional footballer who played as a midfielder. He was the captain of the Algerian national team for five years. Career Tasfaout suffered a life-threatening head injury during the 2002 African Cup of Nations in Mali after he clashed with Boubacar Diarra of Mali. An ambulance was driven onto the pitch to give assistance and at the time many of his teammates feared he had been killed. However, he made a complete recovery and it was confirmed that he suffered a broken nose and a swallowed tongue. Islam Slimani ( ar, إسلام سليماني; born 18 June 1988) is an Algerian professional footballer who plays as a forward for club Brest and the Algeria national team. Slimani began his career in his homeland with JSM Chéraga and CR Belouizdad. In 2013, he moved to Europe, signing for Sporting CP. The Algerian Cup ( ar, كأس الجزائر) also known the Republic Cup ( ar, كأس الجمهورية), is a football competition in Algeria, pitting regional teams against each other. It was established in October 1962, three months after independence, and has been played yearly since then apart from 1990 and 1993. The most successful clubs in this competition are USM Alger, CR Belouizdad, ES Setif and MC Alger with eight trophies for each. The record for consecutive wins in the competition is only two, several teams have achieved such USM Alger, CR Belouizdad, MC Oran, JS Kabylie and MC Algiers.
