Alférez FAP David Figueroa Fernandini Airport is an airport serving Huánuco, Peru. It is the most important airport in the Huánuco Region in central Peru and is operated by the civil government. It is currently served by 3 airlines, all of them offering daily flights to Lima: ATSA, Star Perú and Wayraperú. Although there are no other regular scheduled services, the airport serves many charter and private flights. The runway is in the valley of the Huallaga River, with high terrain in all quadrants. The runway length includes a displaced threshold on the western end. A non-directional beacon (NDB) or non-directional radio beacon is a radio beacon which does not include directional information. Radio beacons are radio transmitters at a known location, used as an aviation or marine navigational aid. NDB are in contrast to directional radio beacons and other navigational aids, such as low-frequency radio range, VHF omnidirectional range (VOR) and tactical air navigation system (TACAN). The Ferrocarril Central Andino (FCCA; the former Ferrocarril Central del Perú) runs inland from Callao and Lima across the Andes watershed to La Oroya and Huancayo. It is the second highest railway in the world (following opening of the Qingzang railway in Tibet), with the Galera summit tunnel under Mount Meiggs at and Galera railway station, Galera station at above sea level. Jorge Chávez International Airport is the main international airport serving Lima, the capital of Peru. Huallaga River
The Huallaga River is a tributary of the Marañón River, part of the Amazon Basin. Old names for this river include ''Guallaga'' and ''Rio de los Motilones''. The Huallaga is born on the slopes of the Andes in central Peru and joins the Marañón before the latter reaches the Ucayali River to form the Amazon. Its main affluents are the Monzón, Mayo, Biabo, Abiseo and Tocache rivers. Coca is grown in most of those valleys, which are also exposed to periodic floods. Description Although it runs for 700 miles (1,100 km), the Huallaga remains unnavigable for the most part. For nearly its entire length the Huallaga is an impetuous torrent running through a succession of gorges. Huánuco
Huánuco (; ) is a city in central Peru. It had a population of 196,627 as of 2017 and in 2015 it had a population of 175,068. It is the capital of the Huánuco Region and the Huánuco District. It is the seat of the diocese of Huánuco. The metropolitan city of Huanuco is 170,000 hab (2011, urban pop, INEI). It has three districts, Huanuco (head), Amarilis, and Pillco Marca. Wayraperú is an inactive Peruvian airline based at Jorge Chávez International Airport in Lima Peru, that operated between March and November 2006, then again from 2018 until 2021. In 2018, the carrier recommenced limited services but has since shut down operations again. History Early operations At the end of 2004, the news of the creation of an airline was announced to the media. Wayraperú was the result of the joint venture between the Brazilian company OceanAir and Fondo de Inversiones Sustentables, run by entrepreneur Pedro Koechlin.
