Alfredo Maia
Manuel Alfredo da Rocha Maia (born 13 March 1962) is a Portuguese journalist, politician and member of the Assembly of the Republic, the national legislature of Portugal. A communist, he has represented Porto since September 2023. He had previously been a temporary substitute member of the Assembly from September 2022 to March 2023. Maia was born on 13 March 1962. He started his journalistic career at the '' O Primeiro de Janeiro'' in January 1981. He was a member of the paper's workers committee and editorial board. He joined the ''Jornal de Notícias'' in March 1988 and became coordinator of the paper's society section in 2000. He was a member of the paper's editorial board several times and was an elected union delegate. The Assembly of the Republic (, ), commonly referred to as simply Parliament (), is the Unicameralism, unicameral parliament of Portugal. According to the Constitution of Portugal, the parliament "is the representative assembly of all Portuguese citizens". Diário Da República
The ''Diário da República'' (DR) is the official gazette of Portugal. Between 1869 and 1976, it was called the ''Diário do Governo''. It is published by the National Printing House and comprises two series. Laws, decree-laws, decisions by the Constitutional Court and other relevant texts are published in the I Series. Regulations, public contracts, etc. are published in the II Series. As in many countries, legislative texts are only binding after publication (article 119 of the Portuguese Constitution). Since July 1, 2006, the gazette is published in electronic form, with only a handful of authenticated printed copies (for deposit in the National Archive, the Presidency, the Assembleia da República, the high courts, etc.). 2017 Portuguese Local Elections
Local elections were held in Portugal on 1 October 2017. The elections consisted of three separate elections in the 308 Portuguese municipalities, the election for the Municipal Chambers, whose winner is automatically elected mayor, similar to first-past-the-post (FPTP), another election for the Municipal Assembly, as well an election for the lower-level Parish Assembly, whose winner is elected parish president. This last election was held in the more than 3,000 parishes around the country. In the 2017 election, 13.3 percent of incumbent mayors, 41 to be precise, were barred from running for another term. The Socialist Party (PS) was the big winner of the elections consolidating their position as the largest local party in Portugal. 2024 Portuguese Legislative Election
Snap election, Snap legislative elections were held on 10 March 2024 to elect members of the Assembly of the Republic (Portugal), Assembly of the Republic to the 16th Legislature of Portugal. Diana Jorge Martins Ferreira (born 17 March 1981) is a Portuguese psychologist and politician.
