Alf-Jørgen Aas
Alf-Jørgen Aas (5 July 1915 – 20 August 1981) was a Norwegian painter and art instructor. Biography He was born in Trondheim and studied at the Norwegian National Academy of Fine Arts from 1934 to 1938 under Axel Revold (1887–1962), Jean Heiberg (1884–1976) and Georg Jacobsen. He debuted at the contemporary art gallery Kunstnerforbundet in Oslo during November 1939. He exhibited at the Autumn Exhibition at Oslo in 1945. He was married in 1945 to Ingeborg Bühler. Aas became professor at the National Academy of Fine Arts in 1965, and rector from 1975 to 1980. Aas was actively involved in the initial phase when the Henie-Onstad Art Centre was founded in Høvikodden, and he was a key adviser to the collection for several years. The National Gallery () is a gallery in Oslo, Norway. Since 2003 it is administratively a part of the National Museum of Art, Architecture and Design. History It was established in 1842 following a parliamentary decision from 1836. Originally located in the Royal Palace, Oslo, it got its own museum building in 1882, designed by Heinrich Ernst and Adolf Schirmer. Former names of the museum include ''Den norske stats sentralmuseum for billedkunst'' and from 1903 to 1920 ''Statens Kunstmuseum''. Høvikodden is a headland in Bærum municipality, Norway, by the Oslofjord near the populated area Høvik, whence its name was taken. Henie-Onstad Art Centre
The Henie Onstad Kunstsenter is an art museum located at Høvikodden in Bærum municipality in Akershus, Akershus county, Norway. It is situated on a headland jutting into the Oslofjord, approximately southwest of Oslo. History The artcentre was founded in 1968 by World and Olympic champion figure skater Sonja Henie (1912–1969) and her husband, shipping magnate and art collector Niels Onstad (1909–1978).
