Aleš Kokot
Aleš Kokot (born 23 October 1979) is a Slovenian retired football player. Club career Born in Šempeter pri Gorici in western Slovenia, Kokot spent his childhood in the nearby town of Nova Gorica. He started his career at his home club Gorica. There he played eight seasons, winning Prva liga and Slovenian Cup two times before moving to German side SpVgg Greuther Fürth in 2005. Two years later he joined SV Wehen. After another two seasons in Second German league he joined Interblock Ljubljana on 23 June 2009. He was released by Interblock on 24 October 2009 and signed in February 2010 for Kecskeméti TE in Hungary. International career Kokot made his debut for Slovenia in a February 2004 friendly match against Poland, coming on as a 65th-minute substitute for Amir Karić, and earned a total of 10 caps, scoring no goals. Nova Gorica () is a town in western Slovenia, on the border with Italy. It is the seat of the Municipality of Nova Gorica. Slovenian Football Cup
The Slovenian Football Cup (, ) is the top knockout tournament of Slovenian football and the second most important football competition in Slovenia after the Slovenian PrvaLiga championship. The cup was established in 1991 following the breakup of Yugoslavia. Since 2020, it has been known as Pokal Pivovarna Union after its headline sponsor, the Union Brewery. As of 2025, a total of 18 clubs have reached the cup final, with 12 of them winning the title; the most successful side in the history of the competition is Maribor, who have triumphed 9 times in their 15 cup final appearances. The Slovenian PrvaLiga (, ), currently named Prva liga Telemach due to sponsorship reasons, also known by the abbreviation 1. SNL, is the top level of the Slovenian football league system. Contested by ten clubs, it operates on a system of promotion and relegation with the Slovenian Second League (2. SNL). Seasons typically run from July to May with each team playing 36 matches. The competition was founded in 1991, after Slovenia became an independent country. From 1920 until the end of the 1990–91 season, the Slovenian Republic League was a lower division within the Yugoslav league system, although the top Slovenian clubs usually competed in the highest levels of the Yugoslav league system. Amir Karić
Amir Karić (born 31 December 1973) is a Slovenian football coach and former player. Primarily a left-back, he also played as a midfielder. Club career After his impressive performances at the 2000 European Championships, Karić was brought to English football by Ipswich Town in August 2000 for £700,000. His appearances for Ipswich were limited to three in the League Cup before he was sent out on loan to Crystal Palace in March 2001, where he only played three matches. His loan spell at Palace was then cut short and the player returned to Ipswich. Karić's contract at Ipswich was terminated by mutual consent in October 2002. After that, he played for Moscow.
