Alexei Shulgin
Alexei Shulgin (; born 1963 in Moscow) is a Russian born contemporary artist, musician, and online curator. Working out of Moscow and Helsinki, Shulgin established the Immediate Photography Group in 1988 and started his career in this area of study. After 1990, he shifted his interests from photography to the Internet, and in 1994 founded Moscow-WWW-Art-LaWWW Art Lab collaborating with many artists from London and Slovenia. That very same year, Shulgin created an online photo museum called " Hot Pictures". In 1997, he continued with the invention of Form ArtForm Art and the introduction of the Easy Life websiteEasy Life. In 1999, Shulgin became Webmaster at FUFME, Inc. Since 2004, Shulgin has been a co-owner of ElectroboutiqueElectroboutique. MIDI
Musical Instrument Digital Interface (; MIDI) is an American-Japanese technical standard that describes a communication protocol, digital interface, and electrical connectors that connect a wide variety of electronic musical instruments, computers, and related audio devices for playing, editing, and recording music. A single MIDI cable can carry up to sixteen channels of MIDI data, each of which can be routed to a separate device. Each interaction with a key, button, knob or slider is converted into a MIDI event, which specifies musical instructions, such as a note's pitch, timing and velocity. One common MIDI application is to play a MIDI keyboard or other controller and use it to trigger a digital sound module (which contains synthesized musical sounds) to generate sounds, which the audience hears produced by a keyboard amplifier. Staalplaat is an independent record label that is located in Amsterdam with a separate store in Berlin. Founded in 1982, the company's founding mission was to create a sound forum for sound artists, who write and perform new and experimental music. Staalplaat artists Mort Aux Vaches Mort aux Vaches is the name of a series of albums released by the Staalplaat record label in collaboration with the Dutch radio station, VPRO. The name translates literally from French as “Death to Cows,” with “cows” being French slang for cops - it is equivalent to “Death to Pigs” in English. Each album in the series is a live session by a particular artist, recorded in the VPRO studios.
