Alexandra Wester
Alexandra Valerie "Alex" Wester (born 21 March 1994) is a German athlete specialising in the long jump. She made her major competition debut at the 2016 World Indoor Championships finishing sixth. She was born in The Gambia to a German father and a Ghanaian mother. Earlier in her career, she competed in combined events Combined track and field events are competitions in which athletes participate in a number of track and field events, earning points for their performance in each event, which adds to a total points score. Outdoors, the most common combined events ... but decided to specialise in the long jump after problems with injuries. Her personal bests in the event are 6.79 metres outdoors (Oberteuringen 2016) and 6.95 metres indoors (Berlin 2016). Bakau
Bakau is a town on the Atlantic coast of Gambia, west of Gambia's capital city of Banjul. It is known for its botanical gardens, its crocodile pool '' Bakau Kachikally'' and for the beaches at Cape Point. Bakau is the first major suburb outside Banjul and the most developed town in the Gambia. Close to Bakau and Banjul is Gambia's largest city, Serekunda. 2017 European Athletics Indoor Championships
The 2017 European Athletics Indoor Championships were held between 3 and 5 March 2017 at the Kombank Arena in Belgrade, Serbia. This was the second time this event was held in the city after the 1969 edition then known as the European Indoor Games, and the first time in more than 30 years that the competition was held in Eastern Europe. The three-day competition featured 13 men's and 13 women's athletics events and took place over two morning and three afternoon sessions. The decision of Belgrade as the host-city was announced on 4 May 2014 in Frankfurt am Main, beating bids from Istanbul and Polish city Toruń. 2018 European Athletics Championships
The 2018 European Athletics Championships were held in Berlin, Germany, from 6 to 12 August 2018. The championships were part of the first European Championships with other events happening in the United Kingdom. For the second Championships in a row the Russian team did not participate; this was due to the suspension of the All-Russia Athletic Federation by the International Association of Athletics Federations. However, several athletes were cleared by the IAAF to compete as Authorised Neutral Athletes under the flag of the European Athletic Association. 2017 World Championships In Athletics – Women's Long Jump
The women's long jump at the 2017 World Championships in Athletics was held at the Olympic Stadium on 9 and 11 August. Summary In 2016, Darya Klishina was notable as the only Russian athlete allowed to participate in the Olympic track and field schedule, finishing 9th. Here as an Authorised Neutral Athlete, she made her mark on the athletic field taking the early lead with a 6.78 metre jump in the first round. Later in the round Brittney Reese pulled close with her 6.75 metres. With her 6.96 metres, Ivana Španović jumped into the lead near the beginning of the second round. Klishina followed with an improvement to 6.88 metres. Near the end of the third round, Reese hit her 7.02 metres which turned out to be the winner.
