Alexandra Briem
Alexandra Briem (born 1983) is an Icelandic politician. She has served as President of the Reykjavík City Council since 2021. She is a member of the Pirate Party. Alexandra was born in Reykjavík. Her parents are both members of the punk-pop band Fræbbblarnir. Alexandra was initially a customer service representative for Síminn, Iceland's largest telecommunications company. She joined the Pirate Party in 2014 and campaigned for them in the 2017 parliamentary election. She was appointed to the third position on the party's electoral list in the 2018 Reykjavík City Council elections and became the first deputy councillor for the party at the end of the elections. The Pirate Party (, ) is a political party in Iceland. The party's platform is based on pirate politics and direct democracy. The party was founded on 24 November 2012 and ran for the first time in the 2013 parliamentary election. Fræbbblarnir
Fræbbblarnir is an Icelandic punk-pop musical group. They were formed in Iceland in 1978 and released a number of records until they quit early in 1983. A punk-pop band playing short, melodic songs fast and raw, they were inspired by the Ramones, Clash, Stranglers, Jam, Sex Pistols, Damned, Alberto Y Lost Trios Paranoias, Stiff Little Fingers, Undertones, Buzzcocks, Crass, Elvis Costello, Ian Dury and the rest of the early punk and New Wave scene, as well as 1960s bands like the Kinks and Troggs. They appeared in the documentary Rokk í Reykjavík, and the album “Viltu nammi væna?” is regarded as a classic. 2017 Icelandic Parliamentary Election
Early parliamentary elections were held in Iceland on 28 October 2017. 2018 Icelandic Municipal Elections
Municipal elections took place in Iceland on 26 May 2018. 55 of the 72 municipal councils in the country were elected using open list PR. The rural municipality Tjörneshreppur did not hold an election as only one list was presented, whose candidates were thereby automatically elected. No list was presented in 16 municipalities.
