Aleksandar Obradović (whistleblower)
Aleksandar Obradović (born March 2, 1979) is a Serbian whistleblower who leaked documents which revealed corruption and fraud inside of a State-owned enterprise, state-owned company Krušik Valjevo. He was arrested on 18 September 2019 on his workplace for charges of espionage and was transferred to central prison in Belgrade. His arrest triggered multiple protests across Serbia. On 14 October 2019 decision by Belgrade high court was made by which he was released from prison and sentenced to house arrest. After multiple protests and public pressure Obradović was released from house arrest on 18 December 2019. Criminal investigation, Investigation against him is still ongoing but there has been no indictment. French branch of Amnesty International called Obradović "Serbian Edward Snowden, Snowden" He is currently unemployed as his suspension from Krušik Valjevo, Krušik hasn't been lifted. Valjevo
Valjevo (Serbian Cyrillic: Ваљево, ) is a List of cities in Serbia, city and the administrative center of the Kolubara District in western Serbia. According to the 2022 census, the city itself has a population of 56,145 while the city administrative area has 82,169 inhabitants. The city is situated along the river Kolubara. History In the nearby village of Petnica, scientists found the first complete neolithic habitat in Serbia and dated it at 6,000 years old. In Ancient Rome, Roman times this area was part of the province of Moesia. Valjevo was mentioned for the first time in 1393. It was an important staging post on the trade route that connected Bosnia to Belgrade. Valjevo became significant during the 16th and 17th centuries under stable Ottoman Empire, Ottoman rule.
