Albert Černý
Albert Černý (born 17 February 1989) is a Czech singer and guitarist. He is known as the former lead singer of Charlie Straight, currently with Lake Malawi. Personal life He graduated from a Polish elementary school and Czech high school in Třinec. Afterwards he graduated with a degree in English translation at Palacký University in Olomouc. Černý is of Polish nationality. Eurovision Song Contest In 2019, he represented Czech Republic at the Eurovision Song Contest 2019 held in Tel Aviv, Israel as part of Lake Malawi. Lake Malawi (band)
Lake Malawi is a Czech indie pop band from Třinec, formed in 2013. It currently consists of lead vocalist, guitarist, and keyboardist Albert Černý, and bassist and keyboardist Jeroným Šubrt. The band was formed by Černý following the breakup of his former group, Charlie Straight. Their debut EP, ''We Are Making Love Again'', was released in 2015 and followed by the album ''Surrounded by Light'' in 2017. Poland In The Eurovision Song Contest 2020
Poland was set to be represented at the Eurovision Song Contest 2020 with the song "Empires" written by Dominik Buczkowski-Wojtaszek, Patrik Kumór, Laurell Barker and Frazer Mac. The song was performed by Alicja Szemplińska. The Polish broadcaster Telewizja Polska (TVP) organised the national final in order to select the Polish entry for the 2020 contest in Rotterdam, Netherlands. The national final consisted of three semi-finals featured seven contestants each on 2, 9 and 16 February 2020, respectively, and a final on 23 February 2020 featuring the three qualifying contestants. "Empires" performed by Alicja Szemplińska was selected as the winner after gaining the most points following the combination of votes from a six-member jury panel and a public vote.
