Albert Guðmundsson (; born 15 June 1997) is an Icelandic professional association football, footballer who plays as an attacking midfielder or forward (association football), forward for club ACF Fiorentina, Fiorentina and the Iceland national football team, Iceland national team. Club career Albert initially moved to the Netherlands joining SC Heerenveen, Heerenveen in 2013. For the 2015–16 season, he signed for PSV Eindhoven, PSV, and made his debut for Jong PSV in 2015. In August 2018, he signed with AZ Alkmaar, AZ until 2022. On 31 January 2022, he joined Genoa C.F.C., Genoa in Italy. On 17 November 2023, Albert extended his contract with Genoa until 2027. In the 2023–24 Serie A, 2023–24 season, he set a new personal best in Serie A by scoring 14 goals in 35 matches. On 16 August 2024, he joined ACF Fiorentina, Fiorentina on loan from Genoa. Iceland National Under-21 Football Team
The Iceland men's national under-21 football team is a national under-21 football team of Iceland and is controlled by the Football Association of Iceland. The team is considered to be the feeder team for the senior Icelandic men's national football team. Since the establishment of the UEFA European Under-21 Football Championship in 1978, the team has reached the Euro Championship finals on two occasions, most recently in 2021. In the 2011 and 2021 tournaments they were knocked out in the group stages. Ingi Björn Albertsson (born 3 November 1952) is an Icelandic retired footballer who played as a striker, and former manager of the Icelandic Úrvalsdeild. After his playing career, he moved to politics and was a member of Althing, the Icelandic parliament, first in 1987–1991 for Vesturlandskjördæmi for the Citizens' Party (split parties midway through the term) and then in 1991–1995 for Reykjavík for the Independence Party. Guðmundur Benediktsson nicknamed Gummi Ben (born 3 September 1974) is an Icelandic TV personality, sports commentator and former footballer and manager. Playing career At a young age, Guðmundur attracted the attention of major foreign clubs. At 15, he was approached by teams such as Arsenal, Everton, Tottenham and Stuttgart. Later, while still 15, he ruptured his anterior cruciate ligament. After the injury, he was offered the choice of going to Stuttgart or Germinal Ekeren, opting for the latter because he believed he would get more playing time. In 1997, he went on trial at Preston North End (which at the time was managed by David Moyes) and was offered a one-month contract which would be renewed on a monthly basis (due to Guðmundur's record of injury problems).
