Albert-Einstein-Schule
Albert-Einstein-Schule was a Gymnasium for boys and girls from grades 5–13 in Bochum, Germany. It had about 900 students. Just south of downtown Bochum, the school was in the Wiemelhausen section of town and shared a campus with the Hans Böckler Realschule. The school had an emphasis in natural science and English. It had a bilingual program, where some classes were taught in English, rather than German. In 2008, the school was certified as a "Europaschule" (de) () by the Ministry of Schools of North Rhine-Westphalia. The school held its final day of classes on 14 July 2010. The "Comenius Project," dedicated to exchanging ideas to solve environmental problems, is a joint project of the former Albert-Einstein-Schule, in cooperation with Wath Comprehensive School in Rotherham, England and Col·legi Pare Manyanet in Barcelona, Spain. Gymnasium Am Ostring
The Gymnasium am Ostring was the oldest gymnasium in Bochum. It was founded in 1860 and closed after the 2009-2010 school year. The school was located in downtown Bochum, near the main train station. In the 2005-2006 school year, there were 786 students and 55 teachers. In the early 80s, the school had over 1,000 students. The peak enrollment was 1,310 in the 1980-1981 school year. In humanities tradition, the school offered Latin, ancient Greek, and Hebrew. The school also offered English, French, modern Greek, Italian, and Spanish. In August 2010, the Gymnasium am Ostring merged with the Albert-Einstein-Schule to form the ''Neues Gymnasium Bochum'', the new combined school's temporary name until a new one is selected. Eckhard Stratmann-Mertens
Eckhard Stratmann-Mertens, formerly known as Eckhard Stratmann (born 3 April 1948 in Oberhausen, North Rhine-Westphalia), is a former politician and Green Party member of the German Bundestag. Before and after serving in the Bundestag, he taught at a secondary school in Bochum, Germany. National and local activity Stratmann-Mertens was a founding member of the German Green Party and in 1983, when the Greens were first elected to the Bundestag, he was one of those elected from the proportional party list (''Landesliste''). Bochum (, ; ; ; ) is a city in North Rhine-Westphalia. Alliance 90/The Greens (, ), often simply referred to as Greens (, ), is a Green (politics), green political party in Germany. It was formed in 1993 by the merger of the Greens (formed in West Germany in 1980) and Alliance 90 (formed in East Germany in 1990).
