Albania–Montenegro Border
The Albania–Montenegro border separates the Republic of Albania and Montenegro in Southeast Europe, it has a length of . At its southern end lies the Adriatic Sea, while its northeastern end terminates at the triple point with Kosovo (although this is contested by Serbia). The border passes through Lake Skadar, the largest lake in the Balkan Peninsula. Economic migration The border between Albania and Montenegro is viewed by many economic migrants as a route into the prosperous economies of Central and Western Europe. In 2018 entrepreneurial smugglers began to offer a new route into the European Union, running from Greece through Albania, Montenegro and Bosnia to Croatia, a member state of the European Union. About 11,000 migrants from Asia and North Africa took this route and registered their arrival within the European Union in Bosnia in the first half of 2018, compared with 755 migrant arrivals in 2017. Ulcinj
Ulcinj () is a town in the Coastal Montenegro, Coastal region of Montenegro and the capital of Ulcinj Municipality. It has an urban population of 11,488. As one of the oldest settlements in the Adriatic Sea, Adriatic coast, it was founded in 5th century BC. It was captured by the Roman Empire, Romans in 163 BC from the Illyrians. With the division of the Roman Empire, it was a part of the Byzantine Empire and Kingdom of Serbia (medieval), Serbian Kingdom in the Middle Ages until the Republic of Venice captured it in 1405. It was known as a base for piracy. In 1571, Ulcinj was conquered by the Ottoman Empire with the aid of North African corsairs after the Battle of Lepanto. The town gradually became a Muslim-majority settlement. Under the Ottomans, numerous hammams and mosques, and a clock tower were built. Tropojë
Tropojë (; sq-definite, Tropoja) is a municipality in Kukës County, northeastern Albania, within the historical ethnographic region of the Gjakova Highlands. The municipality consists of the administrative units of Bajram Curri, Bujan, Bytyç, Fierzë, Lekbibaj, Llugaj, Margegaj and Tropojë, that became municipal units. The seat of the municipality is the town Bajram Curri. As of the Institute of Statistics 2023 census, there were 2,560 people residing in the municipal unit Tropojë and 14,189 in the municipality. Bar Municipality ( cnr-Latn-Cyrl, Opština Bar, Општина Бар) is one of the municipalities of Montenegro. The center is the town of Bar, Montenegro, Bar. Podgorica–Shkodër Railway
The Podgorica–Shkodër railway is a railway connecting Albania and Montenegro, used for freight-purposes only. It is Albania's only international rail link. Although initially built between 1984 and 1985, it fell into disuse in 1991 and later fully reopened in 2003. The rail infrastructure is operated by Montenegrin ŽICG on Montenegrin territory and Hekurudha Shqiptare ''(Albanian Railways)'' on Albanian territory. Nevertheless, train services are usually operated by Montenegrin operator ŽPCG between Podgorica and the Albanian Bajzë station and by Hekurudha Shqiptare between Bajzë and Shkodër only. Vermosh (definite form ''Vermoshi'') is the northernmost village of Albania, located in the former Kelmend municipality. At the 2015 local government reform it became part of the municipality Malësi e Madhe. The village lies in a valley of the Albanian Alps, along a river with the same name.
