Alaska Attorney General
The Alaska Attorney General is the chief legal advisor to the Government of Alaska, government of the State of Alaska and to its List of Governors of Alaska, governor. The Attorney General is appointed by the governor and confirmed by the Alaska Legislature. The position has existed since the early days of the Territory of Alaska, though it was an elected rather than an appointed position prior to statehood. The Attorney General also serves as the Commissioner of the Alaska Department of Law, and is the only commissioner of a principal department of Alaska state government not referred to as "Commissioner" in normal usage. Treg Taylor
Tregarrick R. Taylor is an American lawyer serving since 2021 as the Alaska attorney general. He succeeded Ed Sniffen, who resigned after being appointed to the position two weeks before. Education Taylor briefly attended the United States Air Force Academy. He graduated from Brigham Young University (BYU) in 2001 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science and from BYU's J. Reuben Clark Law School in 2004 with a Juris Doctor. Career In 2016, Taylor was an unsuccessful candidate for a seat in the Anchorage Municipal Assembly. Taylor has served as the deputy attorney general of Alaska for the civil division. Taylor assumed office as Alaska attorney general in an acting capacity January 30, 2021. George Alexander Parks
George Alexander Parks (May 29, 1883 – May 11, 1984) was an American engineer who worked in Alaska Territory for most of his career. Following an unexpected nomination from President Calvin Coolidge, he became the territory's first resident governor. As governor, he was the first person to serve two complete four-year terms and the first chief executive to travel extensively by air. Background Parks was born to James and Mary Leach (Ferguson) Parks on May 29, 1883, in Denver, Colorado. He was educated in public schools before graduating from the Colorado School of Mines in 1906. William Allen Egan
William Allen Egan (October 8, 1914 – May 6, 1984) was an American Democratic politician. He served as the first governor of Alaska from January 3, 1959, to 1966 and 1970 to 1974, as well as a shadow U.S. senator from Alaska Territory from 1956 to 1959. John Lafayette Rader (born February 11, 1927) is an American Democratic politician, who served as the first Attorney General of Alaska. Mike Stepovich
Michael Anthony Stepovich (March 12, 1919 – February 14, 2014) was an American lawyer and politician who served as the last non-acting Governor of the Territory of Alaska. Stepovich served as Territorial Governor from 1957 to 1958, and Alaska was given U.S. statehood in 1959. Stepovich was born in Fairbanks, Alaska, and grew up in Portland, Oregon. His parents had immigrated to the United States from what is now Montenegro and Croatia in the late 19th century. Benjamin Franklin Heintzleman (December 3, 1888 – June 24, 1965) was an American forester who spent much of his career supporting the development of Alaska Territory. Following a career with the United States Forest Service he was appointed Governor of Alaska Territory, a position he held from 1953 till 1957. Henry Joseph Roden (August 8, 1874 – June 5, 1966) was Swiss born American prospector, lawyer and politician who served as Attorney General of the Territory of Alaska as well as a member and subsequently president of the Alaska territorial senate.
