Alan Price
Alan Price (born 19 April 1942) is an English musician who first found prominence as the original keyboardist of the English rock band the Animals. He left the band in 1965 to form the Alan Price Set; his hit singles with and without the group include " Simon Smith and the Amazing Dancing Bear", " The House That Jack Built", "Rosetta" (with Georgie Fame) and "Jarrow Song". Price is also known for work in film and television, taking occasional acting roles and composing the soundtrack of Lindsay Anderson's film '' O Lucky Man!'' (1973). He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1994 as a member of the Animals. Early life and career Price was born in Fatfield, Washington, County Durham. "The House That Jack Built" is a song written by Alan Price and recorded by the Alan Price Set. It was Price's first self-composed single, as well as his first self-produced recording. Released by Decca, the song reached number four on the UK Singles Chart in September 1967. It was included on the Alan Price Set's second album ''A Price on His Head'' (1967). ''O Lucky Man!'' is a 1973 British comedy-drama fantasy film directed by Lindsay Anderson and starring Malcolm McDowell as Mick Travis, whom McDowell had first played as a disaffected public schoolboy in his first film performance in Anderson's '' if....'' Lindsay Gordon Anderson (17 April 1923 – 30 August 1994) was a British feature-film, theatre and documentary director, film critic, and leading light of the Free Cinema movement and of the British New Wave. George Bruno "Zoot" Money (17 July 1942 – 8 September 2024) was an English vocalist, keyboardist and bandleader. He was best known for playing the Hammond organ and for his leadership of the Big Roll Band. Robert Tench (21 September 1944 – 19 February 2024) was a British singer, guitarist, sideman, songwriter and arranger. Mooncrest Records is a British record label that was founded in 1970, originally as a management company run by Tony Stratton-Smith of Charisma Records, and it started to release singles in 1973.
