Alan Lawrence
Alan Lawrence (born 19 August 1962 in Edinburgh), also known as Nipper, is a Scottish former footballer, best known for his time spent with Airdrieonians and Heart of Midlothian in the early and mid-1990s. He also worked as a coach with Airdrie United in the Scottish First and Second Divisions. Early career Lawrence made his senior debut with local club Meadowbank Thistle. Having found a foothold in the professional game as a diminutive, nippy striker, he was soon on the way up, signing for Dundee late in the 1986–87 season. Further goalscoring exploits there saw him move to Airdrieonians two years later, where although being used chiefly as a forward, he would also be deployed as a winger. Lawrence's consistent performances in an era when Airdrie reached a Scottish Cup final in 1992, and subsequently made their only foray into European football in their history the following season, cemented his place as a legend with the Airdrie faithful. 1996 Scottish Cup Final
The 1996 Scottish Cup Final sponsored by Tennents was played on 18 May 1996, at Hampden Park in Glasgow and was the final of the 111th Scottish Cup. Rangers and Hearts contested the match, Rangers won the match 5–1, thanks to a Gordon Durie hat-trick and a Brian Laudrup brace. Match summary In the first half Laudrup put Rangers ahead with a low right foot shot into the left corner of the net after a high pass through from Gordon Durie. The second goal came in the fiftieth minute when Laudrup hit a low left footed cross in from the right which Hearts' goalkeeper Gilles Rousset allowed to slip through his hands and under his legs and into the net at the near post. ''A Shot at Glory'' is a film by Michael Corrente produced in 1999 and released in 2002, starring Robert Duvall and the Scottish football player Ally McCoist. It had limited commercial and critical success. The film features the fictional Scottish football club Kilnockie FC, based on a Second Division Scottish Football League club, as they attempt to reach their first ever Scottish Cup Final. Scottish Junior Cup
The Scottish Junior Cup is an annual football competition organised by the Scottish Junior Football Association. The competition has been held every year since the inception of the SJFA in 1886 and, as of the 2022–23 edition, 108 teams compete in the tournament. The cup has an unseeded knockout format with semi-finals over two legs and the final played at a neutral venue, always that of an SPFL club. Since the 2006–07 season, the winner of the Junior Cup Final has qualified for the following season's senior Scottish Cup. The competition is named the Macron Scottish Cup for sponsorship reasons. Ochilview Park is a football stadium in Stenhousemuir in the Falkirk council area of Scotland. It is the home ground of Scottish League Two club Stenhousemuir, and is also currently shared by Scottish Championship club Queen's Park and East of Scotland Football League Second Division club Syngenta.
