Al Green (basketball)
Al Green (born 3 September 1953) is an American-Australian former professional basketball player. He played college basketball for three different colleges and was drafted by the Phoenix Suns in 1979. He arrived in Australia in 1981 and had a successful career in the National Basketball League (NBL) until his retirement in 1993. He won two NBL championships in 1982 and 1984, and was the NBL Most Valuable Player in 1982. Early life and college Green was born in New York City and grew up in South Bronx. He attended Maine Central Institute in Pittsfield, Maine, where he was a third-team ''Parade'' All-American selection in 1974. Green began his college basketball career at Arizona Western College before playing two seasons for the NC State Wolfpack between 1975 and 1977. South Adelaide Panthers is a NBL1 Central club based in Adelaide, South Australia. The club fields both a men's and women's team. The club is a division of the overarching South Adelaide Basketball Club (SABC), the major administrative basketball organisation in Adelaide's southern suburbs. All-NBL Team
The All-NBL Team is an annual National Basketball League (NBL) honour bestowed on the best players in the league following every NBL season. The team has been selected in every season since the league's second year in 1980. The All-NBL Team is chosen via a voting system involving the head coach, one assistant coach and the team captain of each team. Voters select their All-NBL First and Second Teams by selecting three 'outside' players and two 'inside' players for each team. Players are then allocated 3 points for being placed into a First Team and 2 points for being placed into a Second Team. These points are then combined, with the Top 10 players making up the First and Second Teams, allowing for an even spread of three 'outside' players and two 'inside' players on each team. NBL Most Valuable Player Award
The National Basketball League Most Valuable Player Award (MVP) is an annual National Basketball League (NBL) award given since the league's inaugural season to the best performing player of the regular season. Throughout the year, coaching staff from each team vote on the best performing players in every game, using a 5-4-3-2-1 system at the completion of each match. The votes are collated and the individual with the most votes at the end of the regular season is awarded the Most Valuable Player.
