Al Brodax
Albert Philip Brodax (February 14, 1926 – November 24, 2016) was an American film and television producer who was credited as "Al Brodax". Career Brodax grew up in Washington Heights, Manhattan but moved to Brooklyn as a teen and attended Midwood High School in Brooklyn, New York. He continued his education at the University of Wisconsin–Madison. At the age of eighteen, Brodax enlisted in the U.S. Army and served in World War II. He was wounded in action, and was subsequently awarded the Purple Heart, the Combat Medical Badge, and three battle stars. From 1950 to 1960 Brodax worked in program development for the William Morris Agency, where he helped develop ''Your Show of Shows'', ''Pulitzer Prize Playhouse'', and '' Omnibus''. He joined King Features Syndicate in 1960 as the head of their then-newly created film and television development department. Omnibus (US TV Series)
''Omnibus'' is an American, commercially sponsored, educational variety television series. History ''Omnibus'' was created by the Ford Foundation, which sought to increase the education level of the American public. The show was conceived by James Webb Young who hired Robert Saudek as producer. Saudek believed that Omnibus could "raise the level of American taste" with educational entertainment. The show was broadcast live, primarily on Sunday afternoons at 4:00pm EST, from November 9, 1952, until April 16, 1961. ''Omnibus'' originally aired on CBS, and later on Sunday evenings on ABC. The show was never commercially viable on its own, and sources of funding dwindled after the Ford Foundation ended its sponsorship in 1957. It was originally broadcast from 1965 to 1967 on ABC in the United States, with reruns airing until 1969. The series debuted on 25 September 1965, with new episodes airing until 21 October 1967. The series continued with reruns until September 7, 1969. A total of 39 episodes were produced. Casper the Friendly Ghost is a fictional character who serves as the protagonist of the Famous Studios theatrical animated cartoon series of the same name. ''Beetle Bailey'' is an American comic strip created by cartoonist Mort Walker, published since September 4, 1950. It is set on a fictional United States Army post. In the years just before Walker's death in 2018 (at age 94), it was among the oldest comic strips still being produced by its original creator. Over the years, Mort Walker had been assisted by (among others) Jerry Dumas, Bob Gustafson, Frank Johnson and Walker's sons, Neal, Brian and Greg Walker, who are continuing the strip after his death. ''Cool McCool'' is a Saturday morning animated series that ran on NBC from September 10, 1966, to January 21, 1967, with three segments per show, consisting overall of sixty segments. It was created by Bob Kane—who was most famous as one of the creators of Batman—and produced by Al Brodax for King Features. The show was drawn in Australia, with Artransa Park Film Studios completing the bulk of the animation. Limited animation is a process in the overall technique of traditional animation that reuses frames of character animation. Early history The use of budget-cutting and time-saving animation measures in animation dates back to the earliest commercial animation, including cycled animations, mirror-image and symmetrical drawings, still characters, and other labor-saving methods.
