Akwa United F.C.
Akwa United Football Club is a Nigerian football club based in Uyo, in Akwa Ibom State. They play in the Nigeria Professional Football League, the first division of Nigerian football. The Godswill Akpabio International Stadium is the club's home stadium. In the 2020/21 season they were crowned champions of the league for the first time in their history. Godswill Akpabio International Stadium
The Godswill Akpabio International Stadium (formerly Akwa Ibom International Stadium) is a 30,000 capacity national sports stadium located in Uyo, the state capital of Akwa Ibom State, Akwa Ibom. The stadium serves as a home to the Nigeria national football team, Nigerian Super Eagles as well as a center for various social, cultural, political and religious events. The contract for the construction of the Akwa Ibom International Stadium complex and Games Village was awarded in 2012 to Julius Berger (construction company), Julius Berger and was completed in 2014. The 30,000 seater ultra modern multipurpose sports complex was modeled after Allianz Arena. Maurice Cooreman (1943 – 31 May 2022) was a Belgian football manager who coached primarily in Africa. Career Cooreman led Ocean Boys to the title in 2006, but was sacked in September 2006 and then rehired two weeks later. He managed Enyimba from October 2006 to November 2008, and received a five match ban in April 2008 after attacking a referee. The Teslim Balogun Stadium is a multi-use stadium in Surulere, Lagos, Nigeria. It is used mostly for football (soccer), football matches and serves as a home ground of First Bank FC. Chief Godswill Obot Akpabio (; born 9 December 1962) is a Nigerian lawyer and politician who is currently serving as the 10th president of the Nigerian Senate since 2023. He was first elected as Senator representing Akwa Ibom North-West Senatorial District in 2015, lost in the 2019 senatorial elections and won in the 2023 elections.
