Aigars Šķēle (born December 4, 1992) is a Latvian professional basketball player for Stal Ostrów Wielkopolski of the Polish Basketball League (PLK). 6 stycznia 2025 Aigars ponownie został zawodnikiem Tasomix Rosiek Stal Ostrów Wielkopolski. Playing career Šķēle spent couple of seasons in Spain, playing for Baloncesto Fuenlabrada youth teams, before returning to his home country in 2012. He played one season for Barons, then joined Jūrmala for the 2013-14 season. Šķēle helped Jūrmala to reach Latvian League semifinals for the first time in club history. On August 11, 2014, he moved to VEF Rīga. On January 7, 2015, he was loaned to BK Valmiera On June 11, 2021, he has signed with s.Oliver Würzburg of the German Basketball Bundesliga. On August 11, 2022, he has signed with Stal Ostrów Wielkopolski of the Polish Basketball League (PLK). The Latvia men's national basketball team () represents Latvia in international basketball. They are organized and run by the Latvian Basketball Association. 2022–23 European North Basketball League was the second season of the European North Basketball League, a regional basketball competition patronised by FIBA. In this season were 15 teams from 8 countries (Poland, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Czech Republic, Ukraine, Kosovo and Israel). They were divided into two groups. The LNB Élite, currently known for sponsorship reasons as Betclic Élite, is a professional basketball league in France and is the highest level of the French basketball system. The competition has existed since 1921. Since 1987, the Ligue Nationale de Basket (LNB) has governed the league. Formerly known as the LNB Pro A, each season consists of 16 teams. Armands Šķēle (born 4 September 1983) is a former Latvian professional basketball player. He was a member of Latvian National Team. He earned praise from fans for his artistic style of play that thrived on creativity and unorthodox moves. During his career Šķēle was nicknamed "Big Time", mainly due to his skills and personality. Professional career Šķēle started his professional career playing for Brocēni which at the time was the top team in Latvia. In 2001, he moved to Poland signing a multi-year contract with Anwil Włocławek. Under the guidance of head coach Andrej Urlep, Šķēle developed rapidly and became one of the most attractive players in Europe - his game was compared to Serbian star Aleksandar Đorđević. EuroBasket 2017 was the 40th edition of the EuroBasket championship that was organized by FIBA Europe and held between 31 August and 17 September 2017. Beginning from 2017, the continental championships take place every four years with a similar system of qualification as for the FIBA Basketball World Cup. Like the previous edition, the tournament was co-hosted by four countries. Games in the group stage were held in Turkey, Finland, Israel and Romania.
