Ahmet Öğüt
Ahmet Öğüt (born 1981 in Diyarbakır, Turkey) is a Kurdish conceptual artist living and working in Amsterdam, Netherlands and Istanbul. He works with a broad range of media including video, photography, installation, drawing, painting and printed media. Education Ahmet Öğüt received his BA from the Fine Arts Faculty of Hacettepe University, Ankara, in 2003, and his MFA from the Art and Design Faculty of Yıldız Technical University in Istanbul, Turkey, in 2006. Öğüt has been a guest artist at the Rijksakademie van Beeldende Kunsten in Amsterdam in 2007–2008. Career In 2009, Ahmet Öğüt represented Turkey with Banu Cennetoğlu at the 53rd Venice Biennale in Venice, Italy. He is the founder of 'The Silent University', a programme for and with asylum seekers, refugees and migrants to give and take courses. Diyarbakır
Diyarbakır is the largest Kurdish-majority city in Turkey. It is the administrative center of Diyarbakır Province. Situated around a high plateau by the banks of the Tigris river on which stands the historic Diyarbakır Fortress, it is the administrative capital of the Diyarbakır Province of southeastern Turkey. It is the second-largest city in the Southeastern Anatolia Region. Scottsdale Museum Of Contemporary Art
Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art (SMoCA) in the state of Arizona is a museum in the Old Town district of downtown Scottsdale, Arizona. The museum is dedicated to contemporary art, design, and architecture. The Museum has five galleries that house various exhibitions, curated from their growing permanent collection and rotating shows. Rooseum
The Rooseum Center for Contemporary Art was a formally private-owned (though publicly funded) centre for contemporary art located in Malmö, Sweden. Founded in 1988 by the Swedish art collector and financier Fredrik Roos (1951-1991), Rooseum began as a traditional exhibition hall showing modern and contemporary art from the Nordic countries and internationally. Under the first director, Lars Nittve, it established an international reputation. With the arrival of Charles Esche in 2000, Rooseum promoted more experimental relationships between art, artists and audience, by offering exhibitions and commissions linked to seminars, discussions and relevant screenings. The Istanbul Biennial is a contemporary art exhibition that has been held biennially in Istanbul, Turkey, since 1987. The Biennial has been organised by the Istanbul Foundation for Culture and Arts (IKSV) since its inception. Istanbul Biennial plays a crucial role in the cultural life by bringing together local and international artists to initiate a productive conversation for a wide range of audiences, such as art professionals, students, as well as pensioners. Kunsthal Charlottenborg
Kunsthal Charlottenborg is an exhibition building in Copenhagen, Denmark. It is the official exhibition gallery of the Royal Danish Academy of Art. History Charlottenborg Palace was constructed in 1672–83 as a residence for Ulrik Frederik Gyldenløve (1638–1704). It was constructed in the Baroque architecture, Baroque architectural idiom shared by Holland, England and Denmark. Dowager queen Charlotte Amalie of Hesse-Cassel, Charlotte Amalie (1650–1714) bought the palace in 1700, and her name has remained with it ever since. In 1787, the ownership of the palace was transferred to the Royal Danish Academy of Art. The contemporary art institution Platform Garanti Contemporary Art Center opened in 2001 and was located on the pedestrian Istiklal Avenue in Istanbul, Turkey. Platform Garanti organized exhibitions; conferences and events; hosted an international residency program; and maintained a library and archive of contemporary art. History Platform was founded by Vasif Kortun initially with the support of the Ottoman Bank and later, once the Ottoman Bank had been incorporated under a different name, by Garanti Bank.
