Ahmet Kaşif
Ahmet Kaşif (born 1950) is a Turkish Cypriot politician. He is a member of the Assembly of the Republic (Northern Cyprus), Assembly of the Republic from Gazimağusa District, Gazimağusa, and he is a member of the National Unity Party (Northern Cyprus), National Unity Party. He has been a member of the Assembly since 1990. He ran for the presidency of his party against İrsen Küçük in 2012. He served as the Minister of Health between 2009 and 2012, until when he was removed from his position by the prime minister Küçük. He was born in the village of Nergizli in 1950 and studied medicine at the Istanbul University. Assembly Of The Republic (Northern Cyprus)
The Assembly of the Republic () is the parliament of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus. It has 50 members, elected for a five-year term by mitigated proportional representation. A party must cross the electoral threshold (5% of the total vote) to be awarded any seats. The parliament is composed of 50 MPs, chosen from six electoral districts, which are coterminous with the districts of Northern Cyprus: Lefkoşa, Gazimağusa, Girne, Güzelyurt, Lefke and İskele. In Northern Cyprus parliamentary elections, voters vote for individual candidates. There are two ways of voting. * Voters can vote for a party, which in effect is voting for every MP candidate from that party in that district once. The voter can further prioritize the MPs in this kind of voting. * Alternatively, the voter may not choose a party, but vote for candidates from different parties. İrsen Küçük
İrsen Küçük (1940 – 10 March 2019) was a Turkish Cypriot politician who was Prime Minister of Northern Cyprus from 2010 to 2013. He was the nephew of the Republic of Cyprus's first vice-president, Fazıl Küçük. Early life and education Küçük was born in Nicosia in 1940 and graduated from the Faculty of Agriculture of the Ankara University in 1966, and then started to work at the State Hydraulic Engineering Bureau of Turkey. He got a master's degree in 1969 in irrigations threads. Subsequently, he was industrial engineer at the Veterinary Office of Northern Cyprus between 1968 and 1973, before he became self-employed in the field of agriculture and livestock in the private sector. Turkish Cypriots or Cypriot Turks ( or ; ) are so called ethnic Turks originating from Cyprus. Turkish Cypriots are mainly Sunni Muslims.
