Agartala (, , ) is the capital and the List of cities and towns in Tripura, largest city of the States and union territories of India, Indian state of Tripura, situated on the banks of Haora River, Haora/Saidra River, about east of the border with Bangladesh–India border, Bangladesh and about 2,499 km (1,552 mi) from the national capital, New Delhi. According to 2022 AMC data, Agartala is the second most populous city after Guwahati in Northeast India. Agartala Railway Station
Agartala Railway Station is located from Agartala in Tripura, India. It is the second capital city (after Guwahati, Assam) in northeast India to be connected to the country's railway map, moreover Agartala is the first state capital of independent India to be connected with a rail network. Before 2015 the route was connected to Lumding with a metre-gauge track, but after the gauge conversion to broad gauge in 2016, the track is connected directly to Guwahati and the rest of India. From Agartala an under-construction track has been on the way for a connection towards the extreme Southern end point of the state at Sabroom, which has been completed on 3 October 2019. Maharaja Bir Bikram Airport
Maharaja Bir Bikram Airport ; (), also known as Agartala Airport, is a domestic airport situated 12 kilometres (7 miles) northwest of Agartala, the capital of Tripura. It is administered by the Airports Authority of India (AAI). It is the second busiest airport in North-East India after Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi Airport in Guwahati and 29th busiest airport in India. It is about to be the third international airport in North-East India, after Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi Airport and Imphal Airport as per Govt. Of India plan. Ujjayanta Palace
Ujjayanta Palace or Nuyungma is the state museum of the Indian state of Tripura and former royal palace of the princely state of Tripura. It was built by Maharaja Radha Kishore Manikya in 1901. It housed the State Legislative Assembly between 1973 and 2011. Agartala Municipal Corporation
The Agartala Municipal Corporation or AMC is the municipal body which governs and maintains the city of Agartala, the capital of the Indian state of Tripura and is the Second-largest develop city after Guwahati metropolitan in North-east India. Formed in the year 1871 the oldest municipal body in Northeast India, AMC had a vital role in developing & modernizing the state and managing in its various activities. Kokborok Language
Kokborok (or Tripuri) is a Tibeto-Burman language of the Indian state of Tripura and neighbouring areas of Bangladesh. Its name comes from ''kók'' meaning "verbal" or "language" and ''borok'' meaning "people" or "human", It is one of the ancient languages of Northeast India. History Kokborok was formerly known as Tripuri and Tipra kok, with its name being changed in the 20th century. The names also refer to the inhabitants of the former Twipra kingdom, as well as the ethnicity of its speakers. Smart Cities Mission
Smart Cities Mission was an urban renewal and retrofitting program by the Government of India with the mission to develop smart cities across the country, making them citizen-friendly and sustainable. The Union Ministry of Urban Development is responsible for implementing the mission in collaboration with the state governments of the respective cities. Tripura Meiteis
The Meitei people (), also called Manipuri people (), is one of the minority ethnic groups in Tripura. Meiteis call the land of Tripura as "Takhel" () or "Takhen" () in Meitei language, their language. In September 2020, their population was estimated to be approximately 23,779.
