Čadca
Čadca (; until 1918 Čatca, Czača, , ) is a district town in northern Slovakia, near the border with Poland and the Czech Republic. Etymology The name is derived from a word ''čad'' (smoke, soot; Proto-Slavic: ''čadъ'', Slovak/ Czech: ''čad'', Polish: ''czad'' ). The form ''Čadca'' is a toponymic appellative. The TIPOS Slovenská hokejová liga (TIPOS Slovak Hockey League) is a professional ice hockey league comprising twelve teams in Slovakia. It is the second highest ice hockey league in Slovakia. Game Every regular season game has three 20-minute periods, with a maximum intermission of 18 minutes between periods. If the game is tied after the 60-minute regulation, a five-minute three-on-three sudden death overtime period is played. If the game remains tied after the overtime period, a shootout decides the game. In a shootout, the team that scores the most penalty shots out of five attempts wins. If the game is still tied after the first five penalty-shot rounds, the shootout continues round by round, until one team scores while the other fails to score. The Slovak Extraliga, known as the Tipsport liga since the 2025–26 season for sponsorship reasons, is the highest-level ice hockey league in Slovakia. From 2018–19 to 2020–21, the league included one or two teams from Hungary. Teams from the Extraliga can participate in the IIHF's annual Champions Hockey League (CHL). The U20 Finnish Champion, SM-sarja ('Under-20 Finnish Championship Series') is the premier Junior ice hockey, junior men's ice hockey league in Finland. It was previously known as the A-nuorten SM-sarja ('Junior A Finnish Championship Series') during 1945 to 1991 and the Nuorten SM-liiga ('Junior Finnish Championship League') during 1991 to 2020. J20 Nationell is a junior ice hockey league composed of 20 teams in Sweden. Previously known as the J20 SuperElit, it is the highest-level junior ice hockey league in Sweden. The teams are divided in two groups, or divisions, ''Norra'' (North) and ''Södra'' (South), and are usually associated with a professional team in either the Swedish Hockey League (SHL) or HockeyAllsvenskan in order to develop talented youth for the professional teams. The J18 Region, formerly called J18 Elit until 2020, is the highest level of under-18 ice hockey in Sweden. The league was first played in the 1980 season. Färjestad BK has won the most league titles, with seven. At Christmas, the five best teams from each division qualify for the J18 Nationell to determine the Swedish U18 Championship. The league is divided into four divisions, Norra (North), Södra (South), Västra (West), and Östra (East). These divisions are played from September to December during the year.
